Chest Rigs and Mags for your Black Rifle

love the shell holders! where can I find a set of those?

If you want the O.S.O.E. version, which is a single mag shingle with two 6-shell holders, Daves has them - http://www.dstactical.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=75&products_id=2941

Featuring the very same bomb-proof construction that has made OSOE famous throughout the years, our 12ga Pull-Out Pouch lets you carry and deploy 12 rounds of 12ga shells quickly and efficiently.

The pouch holds 6 rounds on the face panel in elastic loop enclosures. With a tug down on the loop at the top, the hook and loop panels that attach the face panel will seperate, dropping the tray down. With a removable tether, you can decide whether or not to let the panel dangle or simply fall to the ground.

Tugging up on the loop at the top of the inside panel, which also holds 6 rounds, will pull the panel out of the pouch. Letting the panel go will let it swing down onto the hook and loop panel below, attaching it securely.

After reloading your shotgun with the 6 rounds on the front of the pouch, in two quick, efficient, easy motions you have 6 more rounds at the ready. Cool, huh?

If you're just looking for shell cards, check out Farmboy (OSTS) or Daves - Maxpedition, 5.11, etc all make shotshell panels.

the O.S.O.E. 12ga Micro Rig is purpose built for shotgunning with 4x shell cards. Check out a good walk through of it here:

I'll have to get one of the plate carrier and chest rigs I use.

Mainly though it's this belt I use for range trips.

All have to get one of those soon..

At the range I use 1 mag. I have never had a target rush me. I'm no hurry to erode the throats in my barrels.

If I see you at the range with a chest rig decked out with 10 X 5/30 round mag's I'm going to wonder if you are mentally fit to own a firearm. So will most other people. Try to be a positive role model for the hobby.

This ones for you Seafury!!!! 2 more mags in the mail !!

5.11 tactec chest rig, very light and comfy..

I like the plain chest rigs look great,

Here's something I just put together - I like to call it my K.I.S.S rig....original SOE micro pals rig and padded h-harness with four double-decker TACO's, all in coyote. I'm hoping to run it at the Guelph 2-gun coming up, but thats my anniversary weekend and as we all know, happy wife happy life.

Here's something I've been playing with for a little while. I own chest rigs and have used them several times on course, but I have no real use for a chest rig outside of a course setting, so generally I think it's unwise to train with them on a regular basis.

I've liked the bag concept for it's general practicality, but most bags were either too big or have built in mag pouches that have flaps or bungees and I just find them too damn slow. I found a Condor bag (oh the horror) that I liked for it's size and molle attachment points. I cut off a side pocket because it placed my pistol mags too far away from my body, and re-attached the molle strips as shown. I've ordered three HSGI Pistol Taco's to replace the plastic holders I've been using for testing.

So far, dry fire has shown that mag changes are almost as fast with the bag as with belt mounted pouches. The bag needs some weight to it to get the mags the release properly (not a problem when properly stocked with sh*t). I've also included a belt snap for those times where I'm not wearing a jacket. More testing to come, but so far I'm fairly pleased with this alternative.

Cool thread big fan, I'll finally play

Cz setup:
HSGI warlord
4x 3/2 mag pouch with removable flaps
2x c-9 style utility pouch
Dump pouch

XCR/AR Rig:
Cp gear MOFOCR
3x 3 mag pouches removable flaps
Utility pouch
Medi pouch
Dump pouch

As you can see I like military style load out (hmm wonder where I got that from), I still want to have a small fast rig like maybe a HSGI AO or something with a couple tacos. I'm pretty happy with these set ups, I don't know why I feel like I need to have 9 mags at a time but I do, I can't help it I must be sick with mag fever!

I am using a cheap condor plate carrier with LV4 hard plates while I hunt. I will get pics up another day, it is built of the following:
A maxpedition admin pouch on my right side, for phone multitool and camera.
A 1L cantten pouch on my left for glasses case IFAK and compass ect.
A camelback on the rear with a 3L bladder and cleaning kit for the bladder in it.
Finnaly on the front there is... Nothing, yeah I know this is for black rifle and more of a competition rigs, but I thought I would toss my setup into the mix.
I do use some of the molle loops for storing bullets in. and I am thinking of purchasing soem m14 mag pouches to store my SVT40 mags in. Any Thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

OK let's keep it going then; here's mine a work in progress. PIG UCR basic set up. Six Elander mags with room for 2 more and two pistol mags. The extra pistol mag slots will keep tools, knife and a light. I have XRP Tacos, a dump pouch, and Pistol Tacos on the way for the belt as well as an IFAK pouch for the vest L side so my pistol has a clear draw.

I've been lurking awhile on this thread, I'll play too.
Esstac bush boar with kiwi inserts. No straps or flaps or strings to mess with.

I'm testing something out, specifically because this rig is for my tavor. It seems like some wasted movements, lifting mags up and out of the pouch, then down below the mag well, then back upwards into the magwell. Having the mags upside down, thanks to the kiwi inserts, seems like it eliminates movement that isn't required and you can keep the gun in the shoulder pocket without moving out of a firing position. Just down outta the pouch, then up and in. It seems like there is a lot of dancing and wiggling around, changing AR mags like the magpul folks do. That seems unnecessary with a tavor. Figured I'd try this out anyways.

I'm starting a battle belt as well. HSGI suregrip, Uncle mikes belt, Bladetech holster, HSGI taco mag pouches. Got a few more items coming in the mail before I test it out though.

I have chatting with a buddy at my indoor range this week, as I just got a new chest rig from Tasmanian Tiger (expect a video!) and essentially wanted to show-off slash shoot-the-s**t.

He's real CF, and we were discussing how many mags my rig holds, how many I carry, how many his holds etc.

He has 16, stacked out like a brick in front of him.
depending on his role in his unit, his gear may be tailored for that. It is vastly different how you would set up your gear depending on your unit, combat role and equipment type your unit carries, even different mission types will dictate load out

I really liked my 82 pattern webbing with an Arktis chest vest.
I could rock 12+1 mags, a canteen and camelback, box for the C9, IFAK and still had space in my butt pack for snacks and a stealth suit.
I could drop the webbing when it would be in the way and still have 6 mags on my chest.

Now I get issued a craptastic Cadpat Tac Vest.

Gotta love the '82 webbing, isn't it a fine LBE.

I liked it. once it was adjusted properly it worked well and was comfortable.

Oh sure, it was functional, and adaptive and offered good capacity, and you could even get it comfortable (eventually) but it did nothing for your Tacti-Cool factor. The vest is far superior, as long as you accept that everyone in the CF is a rifleman who's main function is standing post, and who's secondary function is looking Tacti-Cool.
