Chiappa 1892 12 vs 16 inches

The Alaskan and Wildlands are both heavier than the other models.
I am packing up the 12, 16, and the mares leg to go shooting today. The heavier 16" Wildlands 1892 is my favourite. It absorbs the recoil nice, it's moderately accurate with the skinner sights, and it's just beautiful IMO. I have a hard time acquiring the target with the sights on the 12" Alaskan. The kids don't like the recoil of hot magnum rounds in the mares leg, but will spend all day shooting lighter reloads thru it.
I personally would use another rifle for hunting, but would consider packing the mares leg for bow season.
Reloading 44 is cheap and easy.

The chiappa 12” 1892 rifles in all the various configurations are great fun guns. One thing to note is that the Alaskan and other octagonal barreled models are a fair bit heavier than the round barrel options.

I have a 12” NSR model, it’s very light and I use an optic on a quick detach mount, plenty accurate and easy to carry around
