Chiappa .22 AR Conversion

yep got one recently 3000+ rounds through it now, fits easy,reliable glad i got it instead of a conversion kit because i forgot how dirty .22 is! got mine from badger arms (site sponsor) great price/service.

Thanks for the info, Britguy. Are you using it on a small or large hole lower? I'm hoping it will fit my /80's vintage PWA with small detent.

They work great on any AR I've put them on so far. The pins are abit tight bit thats not a bad thing. I have one on my stag right now.

I'm getting tired of waiting for more spike's uppers to appear, so does anyone have an in depth review of the Chiappa with a pictorial tear-down?

I have one, but only shot a few rounds through it. Not enough to judge it.
But I still like it. Pins are tight like someone said above.
One thing, the upper is made of plastic. Not sure if it will be negative or not with .22. Time will tell.

Im getting one in the mail in a few weeks, but just wondering if anyone tried swapping off the handguards for a quad rail? Contemplating on whether I should switch off the handguards to put on some tacticool junk.

Troy BattleRail TRX Extreme 7.2" was my choice;

Just make sure it's 7.2 and not 7.6 otherwise you loose the front sight and it no longer looks like an AR upper.

Helps to have family down south :p
Although I am sure for a few bucks more you can find it up here or get it imported in.

I found a few sites that sold them but they're going for around $150 or so for the drop-ins...

Guess I'm going to grab a set of Magpul MOEs cuz I'm cheap like that hahaha

I posted my own review of the Chiappa in the Rimfire section on March 8. Posted a follow up in some other thread later. Try the search function.

In brief, it works well on my Norc M4 lower. One big caution, however. I just replaced the stock trigger with a Timney AR drop in trigger group. Haven't tried it yet with the .223 upper mounted, but it definitely does not work well with the Chiappa. 5-6 failures to fire in each magazine. The cases show either a light strike or no strike at all.

I contacted Timney about this the other day. They said they were getting reports of this problem with various .22LR conversion units. They recommend replacing the regular Timney hammer spring with a stronger AR10 spring (costs $9.00.) It seems counterintuitive that a .22 conversion would need a stronger spring, but according to Timney that seems to solve the problem. They don't know why, but speculate that it's something to do with the geometry of the parts. Anyway, I ordered one and will report back on how it works.

If you're using the factory M4 trigger you shouldn't have any trouble.
