Can anyone here tell me what ammo the Chiappa Model 92 Mare's Leg in .45 long colt can handle? In other words, how tough are these guns when it comes to ammo? This is a bush gun and not for cowboy action type shooting, so mild loads not needed.

Recommended bullet weight and type? Recommended maximum factory ammo (make - model of ammo)? Recipes - bullets and powder - for maximum power reloads?

Also, can they handle the factory +P .45 LC loads?

Thanks for any help.

they allso make the rifle in 44 mag, so one would assume it can handle factory loads of 44. thats being said it should be able to take a very hot loaded 45LC aswell. i have loaded mine up to 1600 fps with a 225

Beater, what make and calibre do you have?

Another question - the Chiappa manual says to only use flat nose lead bullets. I'm wondering about using Remington lead round nose (not flat point) in the Chiappa - (that's all Cabela's had in stock in .45LC). Any risk of detonation in the tube or feed problems? I've never worried about using round nose lead in a 30-30 Model 94, but maybe it's an issue with .45LC???

I am also interested in loading recommendations for the 45LC cartridge for use in the Chiappa. Type/manufacturer of powder, and how much powder - both for regular and hot loads? It's hard to find factory flat nose ammo.
