Chiappa 9mm M1 Carbine Review

A friend asked me to bring my m1-9 to the range so he can see what the problem is. I've had the same issue as most, FTF regardless the ammo used and even after the 500+ round break in period. He had a stack of pro mags w/ him along w/ a genuine Bertta 92 mag. We tried his Bertta mag & Pro Mag....NO FTF. Then we tried the pro mag that came w/ the rifle, several FTF. So the rest of the morning used a variety of ammo in His Beretta & pro mags....NOT A SINGLE FTF!!!!! So looks like I will be ordering some Beretta/Pro Mags magazines. Finally, I can enjoy this fun little gun.

I wanted these rifles to work sooo bad :(
It was exactly what I was looking for; small, light, non restricted carbine in a cheap available caliber using 10 round mags that are also very common and cheap.
It has everything going for it......except that it doesn't actually work lol

Mine works now..and its a helluva lot of fun to shoot. I picked up a new m1-9 for under $400 2 years ago..considering what they go for now, thats a steal! Great groups at 25 yards too!

Had exactly the same issue with my Kel Tec Sub 2000 that was set up for Beretta 92 mags. It came with a Pro Mag. I reload so I thought all the jams were just finding the right bullet and load or that possibl;y the Kel Tec was just prone to this. Never even occurrred to me that all the jams were mag related until I dropped in a genuine Beretta mag and fired clip after clip with no jams.

In fact using the Pro Mag in my Beretta CX-4, which has never jamed even once was causing jams in it.

Pro Mags are good paper weights, but not good for much else.

Just got one from my wife as a wedding present on Sunday. Read through the thread and am looking forward to some range time to break it in. Took it out of the stock for a little lube and an inspection, boy is that trigger heavy! What'd everyone do to add a red dot?

Just to give some answer to your question - I haven't read about anyone adding a red dot. If I was going to try, I'd either add a rail to the handguard, or try finding one that already has one, then using a red dot that works with a scout mount like that.

Good luck, and hope you enjoy the carbine. I found it quite reliable after ditching the stock mag, and grinding the buffer pad down a bit (mentioned in one of these posts) to help it cycle better.

I found the sights to be quite accurate, once I'd adjusted them for the proper range - which, on my carbine was no where close to the actual range markings on the sight itself.

Good luck!

Report: 100 trouble free rounds. The magazine functioned fine when loaded with 5 or 10 rounds. The only downside is that I couldn't hit a damn thing. With the aperature adjusted all the way in the 300 yard position, it shot a foot low at 50 meters. I suppose it doesn't matter much, going to mount a red dot on the forward ring groove.

Good to hear it functioned fine, and you got a good mag. My stock mag was crap, and I ended up using Beretta/MecGar mags without issues.

As for the Point of Aim vs Point of Impact: If you file down the front sight, it would bring the centre of impact up. It would take a bit of calculation, or experimenting (going bit by bit) but it would raise your Point of Impact.

Update: finally found some Warne scope rings to fit the 13mm groove, 30mm Bushnell red dot added and 100 rounds of Winchester white box ready to blaze on Saturday. I'll take some pictures soon of the setup and part number should anyone want to know.
