This is a short list of firearms to avoid.

All are hit or miss. if i have one in my safe, it is because it was given to me or i took it for a small amount on a trade.

In my book avoiding them is a smart thing to do.

I have a Chiapas lever 22 which I bought because it is patterned after the marlin 39a. It was not a cheap gun,almost as much as the Henry. Some parts are laughably cheap like the combo cast front sight/ barrel band and the pot metal receiver with faux colour case harden finish that looks like a bubble gum colour. Anyway right out of the box the gun spit stuff in my face on firing good thing I always wear glasses especially as a lefty. The cases came out bent and split. I sent it to Murray Charleton on warranty it took 10 months to get it back. In that time I bought a Henry, also a fairly cheap design but miles better made and has an actual dovetail so you can put the front sight you want

Well, I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. I have 2 chiappa's and and very pleased with both.

1892 Winchester lever gun clone in 45 colt and it is my favorite firearm that I own. Very smooth lever action. I chose it over a Henry in the store based on the action... and everyone brags Henry's up as super smooth. It's a beauty and I want to hang it on my fireplace (my wife is opposed). It's in my opinion at least... a quite high end firearm with case hardened finish and very good wood furniture quality (nicer stock & forend grains on it than any others I have)

and also an 1873-22 SAA in 22lr. One of the cheap $200 single action army clones that Frontier Firearms ran a special on on CGN here. It is cheap & reliable and as accurate as I am with any other handgun, shoots anything & everything that fits in it. It is as low end as a handgun comes... but still a great value because it is everything I expected it would be... it's just not pretty as it's a baked finish on the metal instead of bluing. It was ordered online and I never got to cherry pick it or handle it before it was mine, and it all worked out well.

So, no... not all chiappa's are crap. Just half of them lol

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
