Hello

Just picked up a Chiappa Double Badger. Its a neat little gun but doesn't show anywhere on it what the chamber length is for .410. There is also nothing in the manual. I've emailed chiappa and I am waiting for a response. Thought i'd throw the question out here to see if anyone on the network has experience with them. Cheers,

T

The local Canadian Tire had two of them in stock at $379.99. Its the blued walnut version.

(To stay on topic, almost all .410's I've seen are full choke.)

I know for a fact that its full choke. What I don't know is the chamber length. Ie 3"?

I bought one also and wasn't 100% sure. I emailed the Canadian repair dealer who confirmed with chiappa directly that it's chambered for 3". It is stamped 410-76... 76 is mm which is 3"

On another note for anybody curious about first impressions. The casting is Kindof cheap, like made in china cheap even though they are built in Dayton, Ohio. The action itself seems fairly tight, but because the casting isn't perfectly straight there are already some scrapes on the inside of the frame from opening and closing it after one day of use.

Next big issue is the iron sights. Because the casting isn't quite square the back part of the rear sight actually slants down to the left. Out of the box is shoots about 3"-4" left at about 25yards. I haven't played with the sight yet however to try and get it zeroed better. I'm considering not bothering and just buying a $100 scope.... Which brings me to a third issue. It is drilled and tapped for a scope however it's far enough forward that I think I might have trouble finding one with good eye relief.

Sorry to high jack... But if anybody is interested I can report back with what I eventually come up with.

What I came up with.... Firstly I was educated that the sights are set 'crooked' on purpose. You use the higher side for one barrel and lower side for the other. Makes perfect sense to me now... that was a bit embarassing.

As far as the scope. I contacted a bunch of people (including weaver, who didn't know). The mounts that are fitted to work from the factory are weaver 418M... this comes straight from Chiappa. The scope itself looks like I will need a pistol scope. Eye relief is around 12", so even a scout scope might noe be quite far enough (usually around 9"). Once I get the mounts I will have to shop around and see what works. Unfortunately it might be a while before i can do this because I live pretty far north in Ontario and I dont have many places to 'shop around' up here. Also considering a red dot...

I just ordered one of these in a 22 mag/410 set-up. In the end dprez did you find a viable solution for this rifle?

I planned on using the fiber optic sights to see how they worked. But if they aren't the ticket then i guess i will scope the gun or maybe try a red dot/reflect site.
thanks,
