Chiappa Half-Pint Sharps in 30-30 (first impressions)

I bought a Chiappa... it was Chi"crappa"... a couple years later I forgor my distaste and tried another one... "Crappa X 2"... that is enough for me.

Damn shame. These are beautiful rifles and it's too bad they can't get their QC up to snuff. Now I'm probably going to have to go a more expensive route to get a mini sharps in 22 Hornet.
Please let us know how the warranty situation goes.

Lovely rifle. You must be pleased. The beauty I have always found with SS 30-30s is the ability to shoot 150 gr .308 spire point bullets.

Just going off memory but I believe Murray charlton enterprises is Chiappas warranty place. I wasn't too happy with them when I talked to them.

Update:

Rifle went back to Wanstalls yesterday postage paid. A bit disappointed that my rifle but very happy with the vendor for getting me a return parcel label within a week to send it back for warranty!

It's to bad that Chiappa can't get their quality control sorted out . There are a number of models that they produce that I would buy in a heart beat , if it wasn't for their abysmal mechanical failures . About a half dozen of my friends have had Chiappa made firearms . Everyone of them has had problems , some minor , some were complete failures . This thread has made up my mind for the time being , there won't be a Chiappa in my immediate future . I hope all involved in this thread have their problems resolved quickly .

But you have bought one yourself?

Yes, twice:redface: They were both the 1886 rifles. I got less than twenty rounds out of the first one, returned it and the second one was good for less than 50 rounds. Soft metal ie, carrier hook for the bolt bent, hard to cycle action etc etc. The case hardening looked cheap and I didn't like the wood but for under a grand at the time I figured wtf. Anyway I went out and bought a Browning 1886 rifle. Got over three thousand rounds out of it. Not problems, not one, nothing, gun runs like a clock. The high gloss finish on the stock was stripped and now its the bees knees:p

Jeeze, even in 1929 the Swedes could build a 30-30 single shot that doesn't fall apart from use lol.
It's quite a fun little tool.

Wanstalls is the greatest, and everyone knows it from the way they take back POS chiappa after POS chiappa. Wanstalls should wise up and stop selling chiappa!
