Chiappa Little Badger 22WMR

My buddy cut his chiappa up into small pieces and threw it in to a river after having it fixed 3 times and getting blasted. Chiappas response was it was his error as it had been fixed professionally 3 times. He had almost as much in shipoing costs as the original price of the rifle.
Ive unfortunately seen way to many have issues and as you can see warrenty sucks. Its unfortunate because i really like some of the taylors revolvers but some are made by chiappa and i wont risk it. Any company that rebrands chiappa i wont support
Hope you get your money and a new rifle

Wow.. I'm glad I didn't buy that one - went instead for the Savage in .22WMR/.410 OU combination... Still need range time to play with it. cost a bit more but...

There are a couple of guns Chiappa makes i d love to have (spencer and the 1887 win) but I have heard enough horror stories about Chiappas quality control to stop me from taking a chance on them. They make a beautiful gun to look at but actually using it may be a roll of the dice

Yep same here. Checked out the Spencer & 1887 at a gunshow couple of yrs. back & though they looked nice from a distance, upon close inspection I was not impressed. Pity Pedersoli or Uberti ain't making them.

"Chicrappa" is a name well earned for this company. Too bad as they could pull their act together well if they tried. :(

For all of those fine forum members who have commented here.......I never did receive the "cheque in the mail" and when I attempted to contact both Chiappa and Grech again I had the following results....zero from Chiappa and I can understand that with what is going on in Italy......and a Dear John email from Grech saying that they had closed down their shop. I have sent two emails asking where the cheque is and there is no reply. I am not incurring any additional expenses in this matter. I will continue to seek payment and a replacement rifle. I will update here when I know anything. Be safe everyone. David

So, here is the latest debacle. This morning I tried to email Grech again about my problem. While they are taking firearms for repair and are sending repaired rifles back to owners their email comes back immediately saying that due to covid they are closed. How convenient. I am going to call their number today. I believe they are just ducking their heads and not answering emails. I have also not been contacted by Chiappa and will email them again today as well. In Canada we just assume businesses will be forthright and above board......apparently not. Saga to continue.

I got the same email a few days ago about being closed but that they're still sending and receiving guns for repairs.

UPDATE! First, to answer gandalphe.....Cabelas will do zero. They only want your money and have no interesting customer service. Like an ostrich....burying their heads in the sand. But, I have some positive news. I kept sending emails to Grech and finally received an email from John Grech, the owner of that business I assume. So, I replied with a loooooong email explaining everything from the beginning. I received an immediate and positive reply. I am guessing but I wonder if he is answering emails because his customer service is laid off? I was somewhat skeptical but, in good faith, I am taking him at face value. He has been up front and responsive. My most recent reply from John is that (again) my cheque is being mailed to me. Also, I was notified by Chiappa that my new rifle has been shipped from them to Grech. John has advised that he will contact me when the new one arrives and send me a prepaid shipping label for a courier service to send my rifle in to them.
Fingers crossed. I will reply here one last time when this is settled. David

I should be writing crime novels as it would be easier. This is the FINAL CHAPTER!!! So, on the 11th of June I reported that all was well because John Grech had contacted me and told me he would take care of this issue. It sounded like he knew zero about any of my difficulties! How could that be? Does he not talk with his own customer service department? My cheque for the shipping owed to me was being sent out. I NEVER RECEIVED THAT CHEQUE! Chiappa finally started to return my emails again and advised that my replacement rifle had been shipped from Italy and would be in the hands of Grech in a month and then arrangements would be made by Grech to replace my dysfunctional rifle and return it to Grech while I would receive my replacement! Good news....right? Wrong. After many more inquiring emails I was finally advised by Chiappa that my replacement had been sold by Grech. It only gets better. I was given, by head office at Chiappa, three choices....I could wait for them to send another to Grech...I could take the value and put it against any other Chiappa firearm or.....I could have a refund. You all can guess which I selected. I waited for my refund. The cheque finally arrived today and is deposited. Chiappa asked me to send the problem rifle back to Grech and I refused. I told them I would destroy it here because I would no longer deal with Grech. The agreed.
To end this story.....not Cabelas fault as I had failed to read their return policy. No returns on firearms no matter what. This is easy to solve as I will not buy from Cabelas again. Chiappa! Very difficult to deal with an out of country manufacturer, especilally when the business they choose to represent them in Canada, Grech Outdoors, is also not easy to deal with. This all started in October 2019 and ended today. BUYER BEWARE is an old adage and it fits.

A story from Disney World!!! So, this morning I am disassembling the rifle to save any parts before I cut the receiver to destroy it as requested by Chiappa. Upon removing the extractor I note it has a part number! So, I went to the Chiappa site and looked at their exploded parts diagrams. The extractor that is in my rifle is the incorrect one. It is for the 22LR model, not the 22WMR rifle. Right from the get-go I have been telling everyone including Grech and Chiappa that I think the rifle had the wrong extractor. Nobody listened. Grech obviously never checked when they had it to repair. So, now I am looking for part number 770-609 if anyone has one. Just take a deep breath David

Damndest last post here. Received my refund. Also received a replacement part (extractor) directly from Chiappa. Have reassembled the rifle and it shoots with no issues. I will keep it and add a red dot and do some shooting. The Chiappa executive I spoke to told me that they were divesting themselves of Grech Outdoors as their warranty depot and representative in Canada and seeking a replacement. Good news. Result?? I will never buy from Cabelas again. My local store will get all my business. I will avoid all Chiappa products. I hope my experience has assisted some others in making informed decisions. Dave

What a gong show!! I have never experienced anything even remotely as frustrating as yours.
I had a Ruger 77V, chambered in 22-250 that shot patterns rather than groups.

Talked to Ruger about it, and then sent it off for correction. I got it back in about a month
with a new barrel, and a test target that looked like it should. It shot quite well, but never as
good as the 77V I had in 220 Swift. Dave.

What a journey! Glad it worked out in the end.... for the cost of a badger, it's shocking they didn't just replace the unit after their first failed attempt to fix it.
I have one that shoots quite well.
Enjoy!

Grech is an absolute joke. I too went on an epically frustrating warranty experience with them and a SW revolver. The best thing Chiappa could do is "divest" themselves from them.
