Chiappa Little Badger Handguard

Copy away!

Running support up the back end makes it solid, and gives you nicer lines.

I love the work, and am happy to see more tinkering with these great little rifles.

Either way, borrow design elements from mine or not, more 3d pprinting and designing gun stuff is fun and to be encouraged.

Thanks man, I really appreciate that! I'm probably going to end up doing some variation of the support around the stock. Half the fun is designing these and copying would take the fun out of it so I'm probably not going to do that (intentionally). There's only so much you can do with a grip for this so there's bound to be some similarities. Either way I really appreciate your "okay" on the copying part.

My opinion, which I also shared with Daver II, is the smaller the better as it's in keeping with the over all minimalist design of the Little Badger.

I don't think you need the "beak" on the birds head shape you have there, I'd try and contour it back towards the wire stock with a similar profile as the front of your fore end.

When Daver II scaled his original grip down a bit it looked better to my eye and was still as or possibly more comfortable depending on your grip preference.

I compare the smaller grip to a single action revolver where the pinky is not suported around the front edge of the grip but wraps around the bottom contour which locks it in nicely and also feels good working the hammer.

Not sure if anyone can photoshop it in but here's a couple shots of Daver's grips.

I absolutely agree that smaller looks better. I was thinking about cutting off the beak and replacing it with a cutout where the pinky would rest, somewhat similar in profile with Dave's but with more swooping lines so it has that classic look.

As I mentioned, what I have now is super early prototype and there's still a ton of messing about to do. I'll also need to borrow another LB from a friend since I really don't feel like unwrapping the paracord on mine, I wrapped it over two years ago and it still holds the same as day one so I don't feel like ruining it.

I'll continue to mess around with it and post the progress here once I have something. It will definitely have those classic lines and superb ergonomics, but its back to the drawing board with everything else.

Thanks a ton for your input, its so nice getting feedback from other people instead of going back and forth by myself ;)

I agree too that my smaller one looks better in the minimalist style... but with the full handguard I still like the full size version.

And to the OP, what software, printers, and slicer are you using?

I use 3Ds Max for modeling, Ender 3 (looking to upgrade to a Anycubic soon) and Cura. I know 3Ds max isn't the ideal software for this but I've been using it to make guns for videogames for over a decade so I haven't found a good enough reason to move onto something more appropriate.

What software do you use/recommend?

Hey Dare312 !
Just wanted to say thank you and tell you how impressed I am with your 3D printed handguard. I just got it in the mail and was blown away by the detail and design. It is truly a beauty and a work of art.
If any of you were thinking of having him make you one I can say you won't be disappointed.
Can't wait to mount it as it looks far better than anything the factory would have come up with.
Outstanding !!!

Hey C2C3PO,

Thanks a ton for the compliments man, I'm really happy you like it!

Oh also, I completely forgot to post this, but I also made a thread cap for this gun (with actual threads unlike the factory one!).

Got me new forend today from Dare312. Looks and feels great. Also a marching thread protector. Got a stock insert and pistol grip last spring from Daver11. I got a piece of scope base for a 3/4 tip off and put an old weaver steel tube b4 scope on it. A little tack driver. Also re threaded a thumb screw for the hinge pin and made it a take down.
