Chiappa Little Badger pics? Post here.

Looking at these posts I think we've found the poor-man's backpacker singleshot .22LR version of the AR-15.

Could these rifles be the next ubiquitous .22, like the Cooey's were?

Had mine out for some plinking/gopher shooting over the weekend. No need to post a pic of it here, because it's un-touched so far. What a great little rifle. I was torn between this and the AR-7, but I'm glad I went this route because I won't have to worry about what I feed it, and it strikes me as so d@mn simple it will be impossible to break.

I have some rail covers on order to make it a little easier on the hands, and thinking about how I want to cover the wire stock - probably some flavour of para-cord wrap. As is, un-touched, it's a great little handy rifle. But I can already see things I want to fiddle with and improve for ergonomics. And for the price? Heck, it's one of the few rifles I think I'll bother with more than one copy of.

I just impulsive bought one of these the past weekend..... keep the pics coming. I'll post once Ive made it my own some how. I am liking the paracord, and I do believe some sort of pistol grip is in order.....

Having just purchased my little badger, I am loving this thread. I like the idea of the paracord wrap, but to me it screams rust invitation should the rifle be out in the rain or snow... Not sure if I will go that route or not...

That angle grip is seriously cool. I don't even have a Little Badger (yet), but I am genuinely interested in purchasing a rail adapter once it enters production. Soon, I hope?
Maybe not so genuinely interested now, sorry...
I am still waiting on delivery of some cheap angle grip which I ordered hastily, but I'm not so certain I will buy the rifle now. I've instead gone down the path of single-shot 12ga + .22LR chamber insert since I got a neat little folding shotgun for about the same price as the Little Badger.
Not completely ruling out a Little Badger for the future although I am now unlikely to own one, but I still think it's great to get the grip adapter out on the market. The weird rail sizing is dumb, and Chiappa's own pistol grip kit looks even worse, like it angles forward. WTH?

A bunch of great pics. Some nice rifles out there. I have gone through 1200+ rounds since March. I have tried many different set ups, and still keep falling back to the stock configuration. I can hit 2"x4" target in succession at 75yrds. 8" plate at 100yrds standing. The low sights make for great accuracy(the front pin needs to be filed thinner as it covers my 2"x4" target at 75yards).

Front vertical grip w/intergrated bi-pod has been the best addition for stability standing and works well prone. It does interfere with the knuckles when you break it open.

The peep sight adjustment works well when transitioning from close to long range. Something the red dot is not as acurate at.

In stock configuration it will fit in the back pocket of my 5.11 tactical pants.....and forget that it is there till I try sitting Down.

All round it has seen more range time than any of my other rifles thus far. A great addition to the collection.

On a side note I have worn out the trigger after 1000 rounds. The hammer would not hold cocked. So I held the trigger and thumbed the hammer to shoot. It worked kinda. 15 min with a file and sandpaper I have managed to get the trigger working again. I am interested if anyone has experienced the same? The trigger will keep getting lighter till failure.

I agree with fufalump, no need to tweak anything on the Badger trigger; fairly light, with little to no creep!

I have been in the trigger. No room for mods. Unless like I posted above I hade to do trigger work to make it work again after failure. I can say that you can make it a bit stiffer(heavier) if need be (which in hind sight would have delayed my failure). If there is interest I will post pics and explanation of what needs to happen.

I'd be interested in hearing more and seeing the pictures.

first lock tight the hinge bolt. It will come loose. Very loose. Or tighten often.

Here are the guts. Right now it is at half ####. As you can see the small lip that acts as the sear to the right of the big notch of the half ####.

here is what everything looks like when cocked. After the 1000 rds there was not enough material on the hammer sear to hold contact on the trigger.

here is the bottom of the hammer. The shinny square is what was filed and sanded. You can make out the small crook that catches the trigger.
If you want a heavier trigger make this "crook" deeper. File away. Suggested to do a little at a time.

Sorry it is a bit blurry. The trigger tip was worn as well, like a ramp encouraging the hammer to slip and fall. This is gently blunted with 600grit so that it would catch firmly.

I am am not a gunsmith nor seasoned veteran, so follow at your own accord. This however is the problem the little badger has posed for me, and I was right back on the horse throwing lead down range. 300 rounds since repair and so far it is holding up. I will update this if anything unusual happens in the next 700rds.

Resurecting this thread. Finally did something with mine.

Nothing extreme, just making it a bit more comfortable to hold/shoot.

Covered the bottom 3/4 forend rails with some silicon rail covers. Had to shave the edges a bit to get them to fit in tight. Cheap rail covers I ordered from eBay, delivered from India... $7 shipped for 12 pieces, used 6 for the LB, have a few spare for something else whenever I get around to it. This made the forend a whole lot more comfortable in the hand, and it still folds down small enough to fit in the pouch that came with the rifle.

Wrapped the forend, wire stock, and rear receiver in cammo Gorilla tape. Gorilla tape is basically Duct Tape, with an extra thin canvas layer overtop. Waterproof, but easier on the hands than that plastic-y feel of regular duct tape, and even more durable (if it's possible for any substance to be more durable than duct tape). This effectively covers the any metal I'll be holding or have my face against, just feels a lot nicer and reasonably grippy, even when wet.

Looks wise - 100% Bubba. But I don't care. It works. Adds negligible weight and makes it a lot more comfortable to hold and shoot.

K.i.s.s.

So far added: Carlson Hammer Extender (had to enlarge slightly), FAB Defense front sling mount, perhaps a scope in the fall?...but nothing flashy...light-weight...terrific little rifle!

Currently working on a wood grip and grip panels for my little badger. Quickly turning into my favorite .22, and i've got lots!

Gonna attempt to replace the sights as well. Not too fond of the plastic used on this.

This $16 case works perfectly. I added a temporary cheesy finger grip which makes it much more comfortable to shoot. Will have to make a more permanent one.
The see all sight was an experiment but I'm really liking it. Great little rifle

You just need to shorten the stock an 1 1/2" and that bag will work well. What's it for? Where did you get it?
The stock case is pretty useless.

I've bent my metal stock a bit which has made using the peeps more comfortable and also closed the distance of the gun when folded by an inch or so.

It was pretty easy to bend, I secured the stock in a padded vice close to where it joins with the gun and then just bent it by hand.

What's the see all?

OK, looks interesting, Where and how much? :)
