That's quite the rig! I have that same scope on my Tavor. You look like a guy who could answer a question about the CX4 for me.
Do you notice a big difference in accuracy with different bullet weights and types? What size groups can you get? I just have an Eotech on mine and have just shoot it offhand a few times.
I have enough guns to fill a lot of niches.
Apologies, Roddy, but "La Contessa" is much too recent an acquisition for me to have any useful input about its accuracy. Maybe after I have 1000 rounds through it... and the question will always be "how much is the gun and how much is me?".
I can tell you that one "advisor" at the store where I bought it doubted that it was possible to get even 2 MOA with commercial loads on 9mm. *shrug* I'll have to see for myself: it may be a pistol cartridge, but a 115gr bullet shot out of a 19 inch barrel at 1300+ FPS should have a ballistic curve close to that of a .22LR below 100m, so I don't see why similar accuracy wouldn't be possible (though perhaps not with bulk surplus ammo). I used the calculator at
http://gundata.org/ballistic-calculator/ with:
- .22 Standard Velocity and Match Ammunition, Winchester Long Rifle Standard Velocity Solid, 40gr at 1150 ft/s
- 9mm Luger (9mm Parabellum) (9x19mm), American Eagle (Federal) Full Metal Jacket, 115gr at 1300 ft/s
And I know the "niche" feeling you're talking about: I wanted something semi-auto, to use at close ranges (<100m), with more authority than a toy .22, the magazine capacity of a pistol and cheaper to shoot than a .223 (not to mention a smaller danger zone behind the target). That's how I ended up with the Cx4 rather than say, a M1 carbine. The Chiappa and JR were cheaper, but for this kind of investment I'd rather pay premium for a recognized brand name (not to mention a certain elegance in styling).
There's a Cx4 thread on the Black & Green rifles I'll post shooting results on, if I get anything worth talking about.
