Chiappa M1 Carbine in 9mm

I did a review some time back.
Summary of that review is that for $400 you get what you pay for. While there are certainly issues, I still like the concept and will continue to putter with this thing as a fun little plinker. If you need it to run right and can't deal with some of its idiosyncrasies, spend more money on another carbine.
The reasoning is very simple: while the Chiappa M1-9 is a cheap toy, it is priced appropriately. Most other pistol caliber carbines that compete for your dollars are over priced. If the Theoron, Beretta or JR carbines were priced far more reasonably, this thing wouldn't have a market. Ymmv.

There's bakers, and there's cake decorators...

LOL! Thanks, that was truly a good one, and I'll keep it in mind the next time I see a chef that can't cook a medium-well-done steak properly. ;)

Let's hear it for the true gunsmiths that can forge and rifle their own barrels; shape their stocks; cast, grind and polish their own actions and wind their own springs, too! Not to mention the true purists that make their own powder and cast their bullets! To the crows with the mere assemblers of sundry specialized spare parts! My hat's off to the artists of the firearm world (and to the blacksmiths too, for that matter). Three cheers for the dedicated ones! More rum, here!

Well I've had zero problems with mine 1 miss fire that I remember (probably a cheap ammo issue )when it was new n that's it , pretty accurate shooting iron sights 50/75 meters

I'm liking your spirit and your writings Grawfr, well done on both counts.

I'm more in line with your thinking as I have a little hobby of taking a well running four wheel drive vehicle and changing perhaps (200+) or maybe half of the working major components to make it work the way I want. You know accessorizing it for better performance, comfort (plus looks) and we call this style of customization or modification 'builds' even when far less parts are swapped out.

I suppose the purist Black Rifle guru's are a little different, but when the boys and I would customize a boat for better speed and performance (meaning overhauling and swapping out almost everything except the fact it was still a boat that floated;)) it was called a 'build'; much like the days of improving/modifying many, many components on a motorcycle (for racing) were called in my youth.

But hey I guess changing out or more then half of the parts on a rifle is still accessorizing, who knew.

Cheers D

P.S. I'm in full agreement regarding the steak too.
