Not sure where to post this, search doesn't return any results, so posting here for now.

So I'm looking for a backpack rifle/shotgun. Was looking at cheap Charles Daly shotguns initially, then Chiappa Little Badger, and am now leaning towards shotgun/.22LR combo. Chiappa M6 and Double Badger have caught my eye right now and am trying to decide between the two. I'm thinking 20ga/.22LR would be a nice combo. Availability is equally poor on these, so not a huge factor. Price difference favours the Double Badger, and I'm cheap, so lower price has it's appeal.

What do you guys think/recommend? Go with one of these or is there another suitable backpack combo gun out there in similar price range?

Irunguns has a TPS m6 scout in 22mag/410 in stock. These are a clone of the earlier Springfield M6 scout the quality is way better than Chiappa.I have both a Springfield M6 scout in 22/410 and a TPS scout in 410/410 and both are great quality wise. Here is a pic of the Springfield version

Cool option! I wasn’t really considering .22 WMR, but now I am. I went father’s day shooting with my daughter, and she might like one of these.

I have shot and owned numerous combo guns over the past few years. In my personal experience the double badger was the worst made by far. I picked up 2 gun in the 22mag/410 version. One for my buddy and one for myself. First off, the wood finish was atrocious. There was no stain where the action opened and there was literally splinters along the edge of the cut!! For the price, I thought who care. Next, neither my buddy’s gun nor mine would allow for easy extraction of the 22 mag rounds. I literally had to fish the spent brass out with a knife!

Next, the front sight was way to big for any type of decent precision along with the oversized rear aperture sight. I sold it to another gun nut after telling him of the shortcomings. He loved it for what is was. Point is, this is just my opinion.

For my combo for grouse I use a Baikal Sever O/U in 22LR over 20g. The open sights work well and the barrels are well regulated. I have also mounted a Weaver 1-3x scope which works lovely. I can even take clays through the one power…. And I’m not a great shotgunner, haha.

The Baikal is heavier but does take down quickly to pack up into a small pack. These are well built, durable combo guns if you can find them.
