Chilian Mauser

I would if there is any information on who did the conversions, when they did it, how they proof tested the conversions afterwards...etc. Searches online seem to turn up piecemeal information on 7.62 vs 308 Winchester in these rifles.

Chile did the conversion with m1903 barrels from U.S. stock. They were also proofed after the change. Chile did an excellent job, taking off 1/2 in. and milling out the chambers. Mine came in yesterday and I'm already in love. Everything is smooth as silk. Needed a good cleaning but bore is bright (now) and barrel and action is out of the stock for more cleaning. I think I'll reblue the barrel, but no rust was under it. I made some reloads with once fired brass but no go. I'll pull the bullets and powder for another day. Saturday is the big test at the range but I have no doubts as to it functioning just fine.

Well I striped it down and blued the barrel and bands. I'll let the oil sit on the new blue for awhile then put it back together. I'd post pic's but I'm really computer challenged. I'll let you know how she shoots. I didn't load hot, just 38.4gr of IMR 4895.

Wow very nice rfle
