Chilliwack Precision Rifle Match 2007

You have class

Understatement.

On that tangent:

I ran into Longshot at the range, without knowing who he was, what he did and who he was with at the time. Just saw a guy with a C7 clone and a bunch of CF stickers on his rifle case. Figured he was someone worth talking too and went to introduce myself. Talked to him for a bit, ends up we have some common aquaintances.

On the way back back from the range, my buddy went into the details of who he was and who was with him at the time.

Yup, class and humble too. :beerchug:

For all the pisstaking and flack Longshot gets from "some" of us here, he is indeed a class act who does go out of his way to help shooters.;) :D

AT least with the Sg-1 cancellation, his big moment and "cool" hair cut is still viewable on the DVD sets............:dancingbanana:

Well thanks fellas! Jeez when was that?I'm not sure I even remember?I'm just a normal guy that loves shooting like everyone else here.
But from what I hear from other people you're damn good at it and you're extremely knowledgeable. I haven't met you before but even so, +1 to what was said above.

Shucks...whatever. ;) LOL

I happened to have Lee Lee Sobieski with me that day at then range I believe.

And yes my haircut will live on in the box set........unfortunately.

Rohann, I have been in for 22 years Reg Force and here is how it works.

If you are not on duty and do not have Permission to wear your uniform, (the little box is even there on the leave pass) you don't. You don't wear it to the bar, hunting or to the Range to impress your friends.

You can request from your Unit CO for permission to do it, but unless you are representing the Unit at the shoot, I would highly doubt that he would give it to you.

Its a uniform that represents the Canadian Forces, wear it with pride, don't wear it to look cool.

I'll be sure to check with my unit before wearing it (I'm thinking I should get a lot more range time before I represent my unit ); I've only worn my pants hiking twice, and that was out of city limits when I first joined (I used them because they were breathable, comfortable and didn't tear), but I don't anymore. I would never wear them to "impress my friends" or look cool or anything, those kind of camo days ended when I actually enlisted in the army.

Trust me, after you start working full time for a while, you won't be able to wait to get it off when you get home after a long day at work:dancingbanana:

By the way what is your trade.

Haha I know, I'm just kinda eager cause I'm new. I'm sure the novelty will wear off, however I'd still like to wear BDU's shooting cause they're pretty comfortable.
Infantry's my trade. Yourself?

I am RMS and just in the middle of Transferring into one of the Infantry Units here in Vancouver as one of their Sgt clerks.

Longshot: This is the picture I was talking about, taken from the BCRA website:
wholegang_precision_06.jpg

The guy at the very lower right is wearing a CScotR beret (not sure what the actual name for it is).

-Rohann

It looks like the groin protector from longshot's body armour resting on that guy's head!;) Although it's hard to be sure from the photo, he could be wearing faded cadpat, that would be his issue 'Balmoral' then, or he could be just wearing it as a favored novelty item like everyone elses choice of clothing.

Can you buy Balmorals? I've never seen any for sale in a surplus store before...and that is the exact dress of the CScotR from the looks of it.
Is that Longshot in the Cadpat above the guy with the Balmoral?

-Rohann

So 'cadpat' and the 'Balmoral' are unique to the CSR ?? I guess the Seaforth Highlanders (Van.) dont wear 'cadpat' or wear the Balmoral ??

Im a little shocked that someone in the very unit in which this headgear (balmoral) is worn would have no idea what it is called !!

Well he could be from a different Scottish unit, but chances are he's from somewhere near Chilliwack; it was merely an assumption.

I would be shocked too . It's a bit obvious from some of my posts, but I really haven't been in for very long and I don't even have my balmoral yet; just the regular beret.

-Rohann

I thought they issued that stuff right away.....I remember doing basic many many moons ago and even at the GMT / BASIC level the highland units had the Balmoral...I did not mean to 'jump on ya' I just found it odd thats all
