Chilliwack Precision Rifle Match 2007

Haha no that's fine, I understand, and I don't blame you. You have to be done BMQ, SQ and I believe BIQ before you get your Balmoral. I was supposed to have done BMQ and SQ this summer but I was actually course loaded when they sent me on course, so I got sent back a day after arriving.

Rohann,

I dont know you from Adam but your young and seem to posses 'drive' I gotta be honest man , I would dump the Militia/Reserve thing and get your ass into the Reg Forces (PPCLI / RCR)

Thanks! I appreciate that.
Oh this is just temporary, until I get out of high school. I'm finishing school this year, finishing training next summer, then seeing if I can do a deployment in early 2008 or late 2007. After that, it's 3rd Battallion PPCLI if I can get in.

Yeah I was in the Militia (RWR) and you get in a bit of a rut, my experience, and you put the regs on the backburner and before you know it your the 'old guy' set in your ways not wanting to go 'reg force'

Get your courses , finish school, go see a recruiter and see if you can bypass 'basic' and go straight to battle school....

That would be nice if I can bypass basics, cause I would have already done it by that time. Yeah apparently militia does get a little boring after a while, and last year was quite dissapointing, because we were supposed to be taking part in an operation in A-stan but that got cancelled for some reason.

I think you should try the reserves first for a while so you don't get eaten alive in battalion.Make sure its for you BEFORE you sign a contract. You wouldn't have been able to go to Astan anyways. Not qualified.

Yeah I definately agree; if I did go reg force it wouldn't be until likely 2009. I know I wouldn't have been able to do A-stan (though I'd like to when I'm able to), but it was dissapointing on our unit's part when the opportunity and a year's training got ripped out from under our feet.

*Edit* I shouldn't really say "our", I didn't join until near the end of the year, but it was still dissapointing on their behalf.

I know its a dumb question....

How does one sign up for this?
Does every shooter need a spotter?
Any dates for the 2007 match yet?

Mike.

yes you need to be BCRA, no you don't really need to come with a spotter. There are usually people there with no partner and you can team up. Other times people will shoot twice in matches, with two different partners, if need be. Hell if it's only a few people, you don't even need your own rifle or ammo, as there are almost always people willing to let you use their stuff on another relay.

As a note for you so you can manage expectations. You have to be MOC qualified by Apr 07 to volunteer for the next task force. All combat troops have to be in place by Apr 07 for collective training. If you can't make it by then, your next window is Oct 08 when we stand up the next task force...

Cheers

Almost forgot...since this is about shooting...See the thread on CFSAC O7. LFWA will be running a match in May 07 for selection of the area team. Ammo and funding will be allocated shortly.

Cheers
