I'm strolling though Princess Auto today and notice a funny looking surplus pouch that some idiot tore out of its package and left lying on the shelf. Bonus for me, I notice right away it isn't standard surplus - the pouches don't look like they hold mags. I turn it over and see this:

I don't read Chinese but I see right away that the pouches lool like they'd hold 2 clips of 7.62X39 each. I was right:

Each pouch has the following marking:

It has 9 ammo pouches and a larger one for the oil bottle I assume:

The straps cross in front and simply tie up in the back like grandma's apron. Maybe this is old news to most of you, but I thought it was kind of neat to find surplus like this at PA. It might come in handy at the range, or for scaring the neighbors.

Nice find. How much is it and which store did you find this in?

By the way, the Characters read
"Type 56 7.62mm Semi-Automatic Rifle
Ammo Pouch
Made in 1976"

Thanks for the translation!

This was the last one at the Regina Princess Auto. Like I said, lucky some goober left it laying out of its package or I wouldn't have seen it. It was the last one, but there was a home for it. $9.99.

Its not bad - I'm 5'10, 210lbs, and could wear it no problem thanks to the ingenious apron string buckle system. Seems like its made to be worn mid torso, above the belt. A little fella might have trouble accessing the far right pouches or oil bottle, they'd be in the small of his back.

Good stuff, thanks.

Winnipeg PA had some too. As well as East German (I think?) one piece snow camo ponchos and Dutch made /NATO (I think?) really awesome green underpants with fur lining that are incredibly warm in wintertime. They have also had various mitts and even about a year ago some sort of very basic 70's US Army walkie talkie things. Right now they also have US Marine (I think?) rubber winter boots with sealed-in lining/insulation, kind of weird but I recently saw them in use on the Military channel when Marines were doing mountain training so the boots would appear to be current. Now if only they could get surplus GI M-14/M-305 stocks in for $9.99!!!!
