Judging by the flag, and the partially visible motto, I'd say it could either be Mali or Senegal. They have the same national motto and similar flags (identical colour pattern but Senegal has a star in the centre tri-colour panel). Also a very French-looking influence on the ranks.
 
So Norinco's AR is actually in service in some countries, no matter where they are.
I have seen lots of folks put fit and finish (and machine surface finish) as a measure of quality. But I think reliability should come first, then fit and finish, which make some people call Norinco junk. If you want both there will be a price tag, usually.

Also, wouldn't you rather have 5 guys next to you with norcs, than 1 with an H&K. I know which one I'd prefer.
 
I owned a CQ311 for a while back in the mid 2000s. True, it lacked in aesthetics, but with the 1:12 twist rate that thing was a fantastic shooter with cheap 55gr ammo. Could make one ragged hole at 25m all day long. It was that experience that makes me think that 1:9 is the maximum twist rate most civlians should ever need/want. The most peculiar part about the rifle was the unusual smell coming from it. To this day I've never smelled any other gun with plastic, lube or whatever it was like that.

I have one and it does smell. I heard the Chinese built them and then burried them to hide, because it was not approved buy Colt.They were built a while ago before all the manufacturers of Ar15. It was in the 80's This might be all bull **** but Google might help or some of the guys here might chime in and give us some feed back
 
Its nice to know that the UN prefers to buy its firearms from a thuggish dictatorship with our money.

Another reason to tell the UN to piss off.
 
Not surprised. I literally have a friend who has a friend that works for Norinco. He sends her pictures of his travels and his two main stops are Africa and Pakistan.
