Lever Arms had crates of then whem I bought mine in the summer. As they've been digging through them, they have found examples from nearly every factory. Factory 26 is one of the most common ones to find.

Go in and ask for Blair. He is a nice guy, who if he isn't busy, will probably go in the back and handpick an; all matching, all milled, factory 26 example for you.

They are going for $149 at Lever. I bought three, all matching, factory 26er's. If I'd had the money, I would have bought a crate of 20.

Just remember to treat Blair really nice. There is one guy there who refuses to handpick (even when the store is empty) and then whines that it should cost extra when someone else does. I drove all the way from White Rock to buy three SKS's only to run into his crap. if it hadn't been for Blair helping me, I would have walked out.

The other guy is killing Kin Sun's(sic?) business.

Everyone else seems pretty helpful.

Good luck!:)

humm...i think it's of better quality and finishing...at least this is what i have been told. also, factory 26's have serial numbers on a few places, which makes it more interesting. i mean the money is going to be spent anyway, why not get a 'better, more desirable' one?

is it Mr. Le*ng? This guy also refused to hand pick for me when i was buying an SKS-D. he also treated me badly, one too many time!

firstly, according to their website , leverarms said they have only a few sks left.

secondly, as for the quality, i cant say thats entire true bcos my 2 factory 26 sks are vastly different in quality, the 1965 is much better finishing than the 1967, it has extra mill work on the carrier and trigger housing is milled whereas the 67 has stamped trigger housing, however the wood in the 67 is much better than the 65, the 65 wood had black pit marks and the hand grove was not oblong, i didnt mind the wood defects bcos my son repainted it and filled in the hand grove.

Picked up a factory 26 at Lever 2 weeks ago (only handful left then). Not sure about names there but the tall lanky guy with black hair is helpful and friendly - where theres a short-haired guy there who is NOT.
Anyway, the sks had a nice stock on it (I've almost completed the refinishing and its looking nice), some pitting in the receiver, magazine fit way to tight into receiver but I guess it'll loosen up. Firing pin feels a little too tight in the bolt even though I've fully de-cosmo'd it (and hear metal on metal). Haven't fired it yet though. If anyone really wants one-it's yours for exactly what I paid for it (clean-up and refinished).

cleaned and refinished for $168 , its an excellent price, i would buy it if i didnt have 2 already.

check the firing pin isnt put in upside down, it should freely rattle when shaken.

Yeah, the tall guy is Blair. He is cool.

The other guy is the #### I don't agree with either.

I guess the SKS's have sold pretty good there. I saw dozens of crates (containing 20 rifles) in the back when I bought mine. They only put a few out on the rack at a time. Don't worry though. If they sell out of this shipment, I'm sure they'll order more in.

I prefer the new owner over that grumpy old Englishman that used to own Lever.

The only thing that chafed me was having them photocopy my PAL when I bought ammo, or dealing with Mr. Personality. Everyone else was fine by me.

Whats with the photo copy for just ammo???? never heard of that before.

Alan Lever wasn't a grumpy old englishman, he was a "curmudgeon".

He combed the world looking for good stuff for us. In my opinion, he is sorely missed.

I bought mine from Lever a few years ago... how can you tell if its factory 26? I just did a sick paint job on the ati folding stock, check out the photo gallery for pics...

on the regular sks , left side of receiver there is a triangle with 26 inside it.

I've had two SKSs. One was a 26 the other a Norinco ?. I sold the non-26.

It is my opinion that the factory 26 rifles are of higher quality with threaded barrels - do they (factory 26 rifles) all have threaded barrels? I don't know.

I can not qualify this opinion otherwise, the 26 just feels and looks better.

However, if you've got a non-26; your just as good to go in my opinion. I love the SKS in all it's forms (except maybe the "D" and this is only for reliablity issues, I'd still like to have one though).

Yes It's damn dishartning how we all have to put up with Pissy Gun counter clerks. f**king a**holes attitude pisses me off. I've laid down well over 2000 bucks at my local gun store, only to be treated like a f**king retard everytime I go in there to buy something?? Seems my business don't matter. That's why I love CGN NOW! Because you guys are MUCH MUCH more fun to talk to and exchange guns with....

LONG LIVE CGN,, Unfortunately we will still have to rely on the Gun Stores for our ammo:( OF WHICH MY LOCAL MILARM- JUST RAISED THE PRICE OF THEIR SUPPLY OF 7.62 X 39mm MIL SURP AMMO BY MORE THAN DOUBLE!

They were selling a crate with 1150 rds for $170 bucks now they cheaped out and broke the crates down and now are selling 500 rds for $110 BUCKS:eek:

YOU DO THE MATH,,,, NOT HAPPY
