Chinese Factory 26 SKS

Well Guys, Stevo is CORRECT! I spoke to the folks at Mil and here is the scoop. According to them they are the only ones left in Canada that have the stuff. They had approx 25 crates, but some rich pricks were trying to buy the whole lot. So to be fair to all their customers they decided to divvy up what they had left and jack the price. This was the only way they could share the mil surp ammo. Also I was told by the owner that 7.62x39mm surp ammo is being bought up world wide by the US to re-arm the Iraqi army..

Now this is only what I was told... Don't know if any of it holds water. But I still can't help but think of the pure profit that is now being made on our net worth.

Kind of fits with the US going into Iraq in the form of a Hostile take over. :D

I'd begin importing 7.62x39 (and other calibers) directly from Seller Bellot Cz by the fricken seacan. :D

Alan Lever wasn't a grumpy old englishman, he was a "curmudgeon".

He combed the world looking for good stuff for us. In my opinion, he is sorely missed.

Alan Lever was one of the first (and finest) people I met in the firearms world. I have to agree he is sorely missed, he had incredible access to firearms and ammunition, and his prices were excellent. For many years he was like Wolverine, TSE and Marstar rolled into one. The 7.62x39 thing happened during the Russia-Afghanistan match too - went in to buy surplus .303 from Allan only to find he'd sold it all (all was an awfull lot too) to the two nice American gentlemen I passed on my way in, he did manage to get me some (quite bizzarre) white box no name though. (good stuff too)

To be fair a lot of these small gunstores, gunsmiths who sell ammo, and local guys don't make a big profit and barely mark up their items, as they know the buyer knows what things are worth and will go elsewhere. I don't begrudge them making some money once in a while, it is a hobby afterall, you're supposed to pour money into it.

Let's just say smart Allan Lever saw the writing on the wall way back and cashed in on his store before gun store business became such a political incorrect endanger species that many ended up closing their doors.

Love him or hate him, Lever did bring in a lot of milsurp toys at decent price over the years. Never did find out what happened to old man Lever after he sold his store & retired for good.
