I bought a fiberglass stock off a CNGer a while back, and just got around to installing it. What do you think...Looks good to me, almost "stock" looking and a lot more durable .

I've heard that there has been a lot of problems installing them, it did take about an hour of sanding and filing , but good to go.

Just got a chance to shot it today. Works great!! The rifle itself, is a number 1 Russian , and this one shot great, right from the start. Maybe a little lighter, with the glass....maybe didn't weigh it. Because I had to fit-it , the stock is nice and tight.
Still have the old wood stock, if something goes wrong.
Cheers

What is it you mean by "number 1 Russian"? Are you referring to the MYTH that the number on the front face of the foresight base has anything to do with accuracy?

i think that is what he is referring to as well. both my sks rifles have the number 1 stamped on the front of the front sight. Both happened by chance as, the first one i picked out, read about it later and checked, the second one i ordered from Corwin and it had it on the front. Haven't shot the new one yet but the first one seems pretty good. Probably a myth though but i am no expert

It's most likely denoting the clearance/interference between the journal size on the mating surface of barrel to the internal diameter of the front sight base ring. I have an early type 56 with a "0" on it too. That either means it shoots really well, or not at all. ;)

Yup thats it...Myth or not shoots very well for an SKS. Or maybe it has something to do with the 18.6" chop and re-crown .:d
