The post-'78 Chinese M14 receivers made at State Arsenal 356 in Yunnan Province People's Republic of China were marked with a set of numbers on the left hand side of the receiver under the stock line. The purpose of these numbers has not been made known.
I have gathered into a spread sheet a few of the serial numbers (indicated above the stock line) and the mystery "lotto" numbers they are paired to under the stock line. There is a pattern to the numbers under the stock line. Perhaps we can discern something out of it with more data.
For example, two Norinco M14 rifles imported into Canada in May 2006 had the following numbers on the receiver under the stock line, 4 2 28 14 22 and 4 3 42 22 24.
I would like to develop this data base a little more. The spread sheet record works better than posting here. Chinese M14 owners, I'm requesting your input. First, I have not and absolutely will not record any owner's user name or real name. All I would like to receive is 1) is it a Poly or a Norinco? 2) receiver serial number 3) numbers below the stock line on the receiver. You can PM me or send me an e-mail to leeace99@hotmail.com In return, if you request it, I'll send you the spread sheet on Chinese receiver markings that I have compiled to date. TIA
