Chinese MC-5D SKS Questions

Mine is no where that bad, But I can see the milling marks as well... But its in a spot were it cant be seen unless taken apart and doesn't affect the function...

My SKS-D is no were near the fit and finish of my Izzy....

And why does that SKS-5D have no mag well ? is it missing ?

Dilligaf; Your Russian SKS is an Izhevsk? Do you just have the one Russian now? And you kept the Izzy because it was the best?

What I have is clearly a SKS-D, yet the manual that came with it is labelled and shows for a MC-5D, so the Chinese exporters seem to have been doing some mixing.

Does anyone know what AK mag compatible SKSs were brought into Canada? So far, I only know of the SKS D and MC-5D (18.5 inch) models. FWIW, I know there are MC-5D models in the US with metal mag wells.

There are some restricted versions here as well, 16 or 16.5 inch barrel (forget exact barrel length) maybe a SKS guru will chime in with more info on them. I've seen a grand total of 1 that I nearly bought but passed on because of the restricted status. Looked very nice with the shorter barrel.

I think the "paratrooper" ones were all restricted. I wanted one of the thumb hole stocks but couldn't find any.

I have a MC-5D with shorter barrel (SKS style mag release)
I have a SKS-M with longer SKS length barrel (SKS style mag release)
I had a SKS-D with longer SKS length barrel (AK style mag release)

Then would be the paratrooper or whatever?

Not sure which is which for FRT

Thanks for the feedback fellas. ShawnC6, any issues loading/unloading mags on your D? I would think that the AK mag release works far better than the sks type release on the other rifles?

I've only seen a paratrooper once at a Edmonton gun show years ago, was restricted. There's maybe a handful of those that snuck in country. Why I know this, I worked behind a gun counter for 2 years.. The store everybody hates in Edmonton.

Sooooooooo I just acquired from my best friend a completely un-fired Chinese MC-5D with 20" barrel. I have a couple of questions regarding the rifle though. First off, I understand it to be one of the rarer ones out there and am curious about the relative value. Second, how does the quality of Chinese made SKS's rank up against Russian built ones? Thanks all!

-Saryet, out!-

I've never seen or heard of 20" MC-5D but rather a non bayo version with 18.5" barrel.

Did it look like this one below, they both have the non AK style mag release as shown but rather the traditional SKS one.

MC-5D rifles were manufactured (modified) from existing rifles in China. All I have seen have threaded long barrel lugs. All have a mag release made out of the original mag release as used on 10 round fixed mags.

This is an MC-5D with an 18 inch barrel. These rifles have no bayonet lug or cleaning rod holder and the stocks are not equipped with a metal mag well.

This is an MC-5D with a 16.5 inch barrel. The short barrel versions all have a metal mag well.

Okay, I sold a chew sks with bayonet blade style few years back. Got it on trade from org owner that never fired, so he told me. It was mint. Anyway, had the metal in mag well and standard sks mag release, not ak style. Sold it cause I never touched it in 3-4 years with stake of mags and drum. Think I got $600 for it cause of the drum. Was told it was done state side in California I think? Ring a bell to anyone?

SKS-D made in China by XZ. Lever Arms imported them. There is a company called XZ labs in California with ties to China.
