Chinese Mosin - Type 53

Its the politics and paperwork on both sides. In many cases the cargo is landed and on Canadian soil long before the paperwork allows them to be sold. I know this was the case of a shipment earlier this year with another supplier. The goods were landed for months before the papers got rubber stamped. We have constant posts on CGN about the lengthy time to process PALs and transfers, these guys got it just as bad on the other side of the fence. I'm betting money that the bureaucrats are much less friendly and reasonable for the company bringing in a boat load of guns, than they are to you and I who just want one.

I'm optimistic about whats coming in, but I don't hold my breath. I wait until they are actually here and for sale.

So this is the carbine version of the Mosin 91/30? How much is the current market price?

The Type 53 was the Chinese version of the Russian M44, which was a carbine version of the Mosin rifles. There is no current availablity in Canada of any Type 53 versions. Mosin carbines have a wide pricing depending on origin and variant.

Not to step on any toes, but the Chinese M44/53 carbines selling in the US came out of Albania not China itself. I contacted the Importer and their "end user certificate" specified that the carbines were not to be sold outside the USA. Hopefully, Marstar can locate a source in China and bring some in for the Canadian Market.

I don't know whether I'd really want one or not now, myself, given the tails of the rough shape they are in. I have a modest mosin collection, and even so there isn't really room in it for something in Fair condition. Not when a nice Russian or Polish example can be had for similar money.

I get it if one is collecting Peoples Army weapons, however

A man can dream about an all matching type 53 with a shiny bore. Maybe one day someone will make my dream come true.
