These seem to be the most widely available SKS's right now,and I'm wondering if either is superior? I know you can get chinese military ufired from Marstar,Russian ones seem to be more refurbs, but overall quality is either one superior? Do they have different feature's or something that makes them more/less desirable?

I've owned both and there is no difference between the two as far as accuracy and functioning are concerned. I have noticed that some of the parts on the Chinese SKS's aren't as highly polished and are made from slightly cheaper grades of metal. If you are just interested in a shooter I would say buy the Chinese one, new beats used in my opinion.

That's a no brainer... the prices are about the same.

get the RUSSIAN, much better made, and you get the original gun, not a cheap copy.

They run $200 and so does a crate of 1200rd 7.62x39......buy a russian then.....buy a chinese then 4or 5 crates of ammo to feed these beasties.....they are both hungry for ammo and consume there body weight in it every 48 hours or so. :D
On a side note; If you get a russian......please don't be one of {"those"} guys that sharpen the bayo:p

No worries, the bayonet will be removed the minute I get it, no point in having useless weight as far as I can see.Basically I just want to get one to play around with and tinker on a little, just a fun plinker.
So basically the Russian guns are slightly better made?Do they also have the chrome lined bore? That would be a big plus with corrosive ammo.

I purchased one Chinese and one Russian within the past 45 days. IMHO, the Russian re-furb is far superior in terms of overall fit and finish. Like 'em both but no range time yet.

:D

Curtton has an excellent write up on everything sks,I would prompt you to go there to help make an educated decision. As far as chrome lined barrels....all are chrome lined except the earlier Russian ones, which isn't as big a deal as one would think. It's been reported by some who own them {non-chromed} that they're more accurate! I can't attest to that as I don't own an earlier Russian:(.....I have a chicom sks and a 54 izzy, love them both. Don't let it come as a shock to you to learn that a LOT of guys here own multiple sks's for every year of production!!! especially if there was a design change in mid year production:D.....I'm just finding out that Norinco even made or MAKES the sks in .223!!.....this is probably the most versatile gun since the Lee Enfield IMHO....tho not even close to the same category!! RELAX YOU BATTLE RIFLE GUYS!!!!:D

Looking for a SKS

Good Day. looking to get a sks what should I get.....????

Do i go Russian or Chinese. I need advice..

Everything else that's a Chinese copy costs less than half the price of the original.

A Chinese SKS costs as much as an original Russian SKS, so why would you buy one?
