chinese sks availability

wow and these aren't even military rifles are they? It appears as though they are the Chinese made sks for export...

Most of the Chinese type 56 SKS's were military spec rifles made for military use. Very few late production rifles were made for Western Market export. These were either modified original Type 56 military rifles and a few that looked to be commercial production. All will still work and fire reliably.

I remember seeing Chinese SKS's in Prescott, Az going for $99 in the early 90s. Man those things were reliable. Doing 10 round mag dumps from a case of stripper loaded ball as fast as you could in 110F desert heat and never a hitch. It did get so hot (the wood stock) that I had to stop shooting.

What sucks is when Chicom SKS' come up on the EE they usually always have a drilled receiver or some other irreversible mod done to them. :bangHead:

Elwood Epps? Ive already got a type 56 mint never fired numbers matching with the mid production barrel lug not pinned. So now that there drying up I'd like to get a shooter.

Sorry but you would probably be harder pressed to find a chinese without matching #'s. Russian is a different story as alot are refurbs, Most chinese came packed in the grease they were stored in after leaving the factory, I wouldnt hesitate for a second to shoot any SKS, Even the higher end collectable ruskies rarely reach $400
