chinese SKS bayonet trouble

@Plinker: Apfelstrudel is more of a german thing, but it's also very common over here. Speaking of it makes me hungry, I should make some.

While a K31 will outshoot an SKS, we still use them side by side during classes as they complement each other perfectly. The SKS is perfect for young shooters and girls.

@Camster: getting a new stock or bayonet is probably the best way. Leaving the bayo open is no option.

@Roughshod: thanks.

That is a Chinese SKS in a Russian laminate stock for sure. I can say for sure it is not an Egyptian contract Chinese SKS as those had blued bolt carrier groups and the laminate stocks did not have the rear cross bolt in the wrist.

Does the gun have any factory markings? If it is a Factory 26 gun it would be possible to date it and determine if it should have a spike bayonet or a blade. If you take a pic of the rear sight block and where the barrel mounts to the receiver it could also be determined by those features.

You have an interesting rifle. As others said, it would be nice to see a few more pics. Not too sure if its original configuration or has parts replacement. Your stock is designed for a blade bayonet as others had mentioned. In accordance with your laws, a Russian bayonet is NOT two sided, it is manufactured flat on one side (upper side when folded).

Actually the flat side is the bottom edge when folded. Protects the shooters hand. The more edged side folds up into the stock.

Yes, you are correct, but the point was that the Russian bayo is still only edged on one side, if you want to call it an edge? Might cut butter if it was heated.

@Fenceline: no other markings other than the serialnumer and the "made in china by norinco" stamp.

thanks you all, you're great. Let's see if I can get my greedy hands on a blade bayonet.

It may be a civilian variant, and not a true milsurp. Which given the mix match of parts won't mean you'll "harm" it by changing anything. Find a spike!

Got myself a chinese SKS a couple months ago. Only did so because I had an open slot on my purchase permit and it was cheap (for Switzerland at least).

Well, to make a long story short: the rifle was converted to meet german law-requirements.

-sight blade limited to 300m (duh!)
-magazine limited to 5 rds (removed before I received it, since it's not required in Switzerland)
-bayonet removed
-cleaning rod and kit removed (replaced them already)
-bayonet removed

Now I got ahold of a new spike bayonet.

Problem: the bugger doesn't fit.

what would be the correct bayonet for my SKS? blade? Where can I get one? They seem to be impossible to find on this side of the atlantic.
You need a Para trooper bayonet. Cheek Polytech industries out of the states for it. Did you need a link?
