Ok the serial number seems to be 94109xx electropenciled on the side of the receiver but stamped as 109xx on the breach carrier and mag.
I have one of these too
They milled off the old markings and re-engraved the ser # back on. Why? who knows?
To comply with civil arms marking laws which China seems to have observed for a while. 94 is the year the carbine was released for civvy sale.
US or Canada law? because very SKS56s have been scubbed of there markings

Opps, thought I had something different, I see you already confirmed it.
code /106\ comes in two styles, see my chart.
I just thought of something. On many triangle codes, the outer triangle forms part of the number. For years we've all assumed a code like the 106 pictured meant 106, but how do we know it isn't "0106" or "1060" with the outer triangle forming the extra zero?
This doesn't seem that far fetched to me considering that most (all?) the rectangle codes are 4 digit...
Thoughts?
Heres my 0406 Its different from your 0406

anything is possible with the chinese , the only thing that bother me about your idea is whats happens with the 4 digits codes like 0404 ? do they become 00404 or 04040 , then that makes them 5 digits and we havent seen 5 numeric before.
hi D: i included both 0406 in the chart.
No, I think the outer triangle only forms a zero when it is not part of another digit. In other words 0404 could be either 0404 or 4040, but a "Factory 26" would likely be factory "260".
Check out my other thread on the factopry "625" guns likely being factory "256" guns. I have some photographic evidence![]()
