Why are the prices of the Chinese sks' so crazy right now?
I remember when they were almost being given away with ammo deals a year to two ago- now they seem to be selling really expensive.
I know there's no more coming in- but is there something else I'm missing?

Vendors have been sold out for months, and no new stock. Impending reclassification/ban/uncertainty is having an effect too.

Last ones that were sold by the dealers went for $300.00 and there was no problem selling them. Even if they were still coming in to Canada, with the low dollar, prices would probably be around the $300.00 range now.

Ya me too. I should have bought more and kept the few I had!
Just wondered if there was something else. Didn't think they would become collector items!

I sold one a few years ago for $225. Thought I got a good Penney for it. It had the detachable mag.

Bought 2 brand new military chinese 306 last year from Marstar at 300.00 each, grandkids are shooting them, one in while i join them for a behind the barn shooting spree...
I actually find those chinese SKS to be more accurate than their russian counterpart...
They certainly worth the price and are definitly keepers... JP.

I just sold a very nice example for $200. That's not crazy.

I agree, my first SKS was a Yugo that I got on a trade and it was very nice! but I sold it because I wanted a cheap shooter not a 'collector', then I picked up referb Russian and got a good deal on 1 of the Chinese unmarked 1's and it outshoots the other 2 for sure. Sold the Russian to a buddy who wanted it. ** I've only ever shot non-corrosive through any of them**

Cabelas says Russian sks on sale 250 Reg 300
I swear leading up to the sale they were only 229.00 ?

HAHAHA probably knowing Cabelas! lots of site sponsors still have them for $199 -$229...

I guess like anything it's a supply and demand thing. Myself sks rifles are $200 rifles and that's it. They are still $200 local near me. I won't ever pay anymore than that , they are good for what they are but absolutely nothing special or high end about an sks. That being said I think everyone should own one. I personally don't think any make of sks is that much better than another except maybe the yugo sks.

Chinese SKS in stock - everyone calls them junk and says get a Russian.
Chinese SKS out of stock - suddenly worth more than an unissued Russian.
Lol I agree with sigrunes. $200. Great rifles in their own right. Chinese military SKS equal Russian quality. The rest is petty aesthetics.

We used to think the SMLE was serviceable but anemic back in the day. I gave away a few to people that were new to the sport just to keep their interest high. The last one I sold recently to a friend of my son's for $300 with a spare magazine and a subscription to any 303 ammo i came across. He loves it!
Look forward to the after Trudeau part deux and SKS of any kind might command some serious prices. (If they are still allowed)
