Chinese Sks

Put it this way, I said "I'll take it" at someone's asking price for their Chinese SKS and never heard anything. They go that fast... could have bought them by the crate a few years back. Still tons of "B" Grade Russians to keep you satisfied. Very few really nice ones are being seen anymore.

The exporters who still have them for sale want more money than the Canadian importers are willing to pay so we probably won't see more for a while.

There are plenty in Canada though, just watch the EE closely and try and be the first to "I'll take it."

The demand will drop eventually. They are of mixed quality depending on what factory made them and some of the wood used is just absolutely terrible. Soft and very easily dented and cracked. They don't really offer anything over a Russian.

Except Russians aren't Chinese. Some want one for that reason.

The Chinese population that lives in Russia is deeply offended.

Nothing wrong with having a Chinese SKS at all, I have a few myself. There just seems to be some unjustified mystique about them now that they sold out. I paid $125 each for mine not too long ago.

If they are Chinese and living in Russia, they are still Chinese and not Russian. Unless they take citizenship in Russian, then they are no longer Chinese. But neither of us are talking about people.

Some time ago, long or not, is the past. Things change.

Couldn't agree more. The best shooting SKS I have owned is a Russian. Yugo are also generally good shooters but like I said , having owned Russian, Yugo and Chinese in the past the best groups/shooter I have had is a Russian. They are built like tanks.
The thing with Chinese nowadays is strictly supply and demand IMHO , not a matter of them being better in any way.

The problem with saying one shoots better than another is there is more than just Russian, Chinese and Yugo to consider.

Is the Russian a refurb? Not a refurb? Is the Chinese a pinned barrel or threaded? Is the Chinese a civilian market piece together, or a military surplus gun? Is the Yugo a M59 or a M59/66?

All can be factors in the accuracy of an SKS. Is an Izzy more accurate than a Tula? Less accurate?

How does the stock fit? How does it play on the gun it is fitted to?

The "one shoots better than another" comparison has much more variables than just the country of origin.

Who cares, it's a cheap rifle that shoots cheap surplus ammo. Go get a beater and beat the f@ck out of it. Yugo's are expensive, Chinese are creeping up in price and go fast on the EE (supply and demand). There's a guy on the EE who bumped his Yugo about 8x at $850. Which one is actually better, who cares.

I bought one because I got a $50 gift card with it, it's got an ugly stock that I'm going to spray paint black... not a big deal. Bore and bluing look like new, guess that's the main thing.

I have owned and shot a lot of SKS in my time. I was simply pointing out my experience with them. YMMV. I have found in my experience the Russian were the best shooters groups wise, whether they have been tighter , better barrel etc , all of your variables it doesn't change my findings. It isn't just a huge coincidence. How else can one test or decipher then? If a rifle groups better then it groups better , it just so happened that the best groups I have got were from Russian made. I'm not knocking any make of SKS , just reporting my findings on many years and many makes of shooting these rifles. I do understand your point don't get me wrong but for the money these days I think a good Russian is the way to go. Get them quality ones before they reach Yugo and Chinese prices. If your a collector though you surely want an example of each Country, maker , more uncommon ones etc..

You say Russian shoots the best, many will agree with you, and many others would sat Chinese shoot better. Many in this thread even it would appear.

I don't discount what you are saying. I'm just saying that there are so many variables between guns and shooters that saying one country is always more accurate on average just isn't possible. One one one sure. But not as a group.

I hear and acknowledge your point and it is valid. I also agree there are a lot of variables to consider yes. Like I say , im just relaying my experience and going with probability as I have found. Also I could get a Chinese down the road that shoots amazing groups and that would be my new best SKS , not discounting that happening. I still think the Russian made are the best bang for the buck at the moment if your shooting and not collecting.
I had one day with all 3 country makes out shooting and it was a good day of shooting for sure. I like the SKS platform on reliability alone let alone the cheap ammo and rugged design.
