Chinese Type 53 carbine

Hey all - I'm hoping you can give me a price value on this T53 carbine, with and without the scope.


It's of course, a T53, as identified from 7.62x54r.net (http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinM44EEC.htm) and appears to have been varnished (though some pics I've seen look like they have been too).

It has original bolt body, and matching numbers on the bolt, stock, reciever and mag plate. Nice shiny bore, light rust pitting in places on outside of gun, silver showing through bluing.

I bought this gun to strip the scope mount and then repair and sell.

What would it be worth if I
A)filled the drilled holes.
B)repaired the wood
C)put original bolt handle back on.

Any ideas? I know they're more rare than the regular M44, but I also know that it has been bubba'd.

I'm trying to figure out if I want to do that, or just keep the rifle and have a carbine sniper

Then again, my 91/30 is the correct arsenal and dates for a sniper... I've wanted a 91/30 sniper clone for a while

What do you think?

To be honest it looks like a nice gun, I just prefer original style I guess...


P.S. - the eye relief is really small with the PU scopes eh?
P.P.S. - I'm amazed how simple the scope itself is... I love it!

It's probably worth more the way it sits than "restored".

I wouldn't pay more than $250 as is, $150 after restoration. It's a shame bubba got to what is a rare model in Canada.

If you had to buy the bolt sniper handle tomorrow, it would cost $100 US, a repro sniper mount and scope c/w the bolt hande is worth $350 USD ish. The rifle, well after that it's worth $150? maybe more if the de-bubbafying job was real clean and tight.
