My 1960 Type 53 arrived today!

For a Type 53, I would say its in pretty good condition.

Any other Canadian Type 53 owners out there? Share some pictures!

Pure luck that I saw an ad. An awesome Gun Nut helped me with an in person sale and shipped it to me.

The gun is matching. Appearent the serial number on this is higher than the highest reported on Gun Board. Got a Russian cleaning rod on the way. I know chinese ones are bit different but its close enough.

I didn't even know China produced a Mosin! Were they producing these for export or for their own army? Were the Type 56's not in service yet?

The type 56 is the SKS. The type 53 was the Chinese designation for their own carbine mosin. These M44 copies were ready for Korea and Vietnam etc... when opening Chinese surplus note the cans the 7.62x54R has a 53 designation too it where your SKS ammo is go a big 56 on it most of the time. Also there was the Chinese type 56 assault rifle that is a AK copy made alongside the type 56 semiautomatic rifle (SKS).

i have had no luck finding a type 53 myself. Good catch, a couple years ago i saw one on EE but never heard from the seller so assuming it sold fast.
Nice Type 53 carbine.
