Chinese type 56 SKS is slightly more accurate than Russian non refurbished SKS!

I just ordered a Trade Ex SKS. I had planned on making it my close range deer rifle. What can I expect for accuracy? I reload my own ammo but I also have a good supply of PRVI 123 grain soft points. I know each rifle will be different but how bad can the accuracy be? Will it still be good enough to hunt with? I am not planning on modding the gun in any way.

My Chinese shoots better than any Refurb Russians I've ever had, but not by enough to really take that to mean anything. My refurbs probably have seen at least 20 thousand rounds a piece in Russian service, while my new in the cosmoline Chinese one has seen about ten thousand by my hand and that's it. Generally, a well made (which almost all Chinese ones are) unused variant of a rifle will do a bit better than a well made but shot to hell one. It's just how it works.

These rifles are tough and while they may lose .5 MOA every 20k rounds, that's not really a big deal at all if all we shoot is water bottles and paper targets. Not that big of a deal even if we hunt with them, within their limitations. These rifles are the best deal in Canada and when they're all dried up and cost $400 bucks a piece we'll be happy to have them, unrefurbished Russians or Chinese clones alike.

My rule on deer carbines is if I can put 5 rounds on a 10" paper plate at 100 m. (standing) Try this it is not easy. If my new SKS shoots 3 or 4 inch 100 yard groups I will be happy. I can only hope for better.

I ping the 300yd plate with my chicom sks using iron sights (none of those sissy optics; shoot rifle as glorious leader intended) pretty reliably. I should pick up a Russian and compare.

I have read on the net the same thing - pinned barrels supposed to be more accurate, but not because they are pinned but because they are newer and better made - this is what people are saying. After all i think VZ is made the same way, i don;t if it is pinned but it is pressed into reciever just like pinned SKSs.

I've experienced it more than once, with different rifles. Now the Vz 52/57 will out shoot the best shooting SKS I've also found,as will a Rasheed too.
