Chinese Type 81, heard they are coming to Canada

ah yes, I've been meaning to mention... according to Wikipedia, the standard Type 81 assault rifle has a barrel length of 445mm or 17.5 inches...

Is it just me, or does the civilian T81-1SA pictured here on the EMEI website, appear to have a longer barrel, by about an inch or so? if you look at a standard type 81, the barrel ahead of the front sight is about equal length as the portion from the hand guard to the front sight...the civilian model looks like the portion beyond the front sight looks a tad longer, and doesn't have all the ribs.

I'd buy that rifle in a heartbeat.

In fact, if they come like this I'll buy two. For sure.

Can't wait

Now the decision is. Do I sell my vz58 now? Or wait until it maybe approved to sell it.

I think the cz/vz 858/58 Is a much better rifle, smaller, more handy, than the type 81. It even looks better. The 81 is a clunky looking thing and it has the sensitive piston and firing pin like the SKS. I would definately buy an 81 but my cz will remain my go to rifle. I have put well over 12 boxes of ammo through mine without any failures. Never even changed any parts. I don't think I would even trade it for an AK.

It isn't about whether or not the parts to make a gun full auto are available, or easy to come by.

It is about "if you had the parts, how easy would it be to install the parts to make the gun go full auto."

If they don't have the actual go fast parts from a full auto to try in a semi, then they can't tell. So they prohibit.

The sks goes full auto when the firing pin gets seazed up. Thing is that it won't stop even if you let go of the trigger.

12 entire boxes ? Like 240 rounds ? That dosent even count as breaking it in ! :)

I'm on crate #3 thru my 858 and still feel like it's hardly broken in yet. But before I judge the Type 81 on its realibility I need to shoot it first.

I assumed he meant 12 crates - and I was thinking, damn thats a lot of rounds to have no parts failures haha... Not even a firing pin?

I need another 7.62x39 rifle...

I hate to be the guy that says it, but buy both. AR15's are great rifles - I don't think you would regret it!

Ben

Oh believe me when I say I will have both. Its simply a matter of when will this one arrive and how much it is. Once that is determined i will decide which im getting first.

Thanks for that assessment. FYI, language is important, perhaps comments about something being full auto when it's not should be kept to yourself. If you think this condition is something peculiar to the SKS, I'd suggest you lurk a bit and expand your knowledge base a little.

As for Type 81 being "clunky", I find it looks like any other rifle biased on a military design, all business.

100% grabbing both of these if they get into Canada, even if they're restricted.

So is it or isn't it? R or Nr? In another thread a guy said he held one at Sportsman show & it was NR? I havent heard a reply on that since..? I thought I read on here it is R?

*EDIT* Confirmed..NR on first batch TI bringing in...
