Chinese Type 81 - please help to identify this bolt!!

Greetings,

I'm reaching out to the owners of Chinese Type T81, semi-auto version.
My rifle is missing a bolt at the bottom of the gas block receiver. See pictures.
I can't seem to identify the size/thread to find a replacement. The thread looks to be fine, close to 1/4-28, but not exact. Perhaps, it's metric and not imperial? :bangHead::bangHead:

If anyone could confirm - I would be forever grateful!



 
Mine was missing the same one on arrival. I called Tactical Imports (where I purchased the T81) and they mailed me out one the same day.

The screw for that should be on/held in place in the bottom of your lower handguard.

Correct, the lower wooden handguard slides over that hole and is meant to be kept in place there by that same bolt (not a screw). This bolt is missing.
 
there is a replacement screw in the part kits for $129 , real bargain, :rolleyes::rolleyes: but a better way is what DueyB said.

i know it still doesnt answer your question, what size is it?

The handguard retaining bolt was missing? :S
Contact TI. They are literally some of the best customer service I've ever dealt with. I had a guy sell me a used Type 81 which he removed the bolt hold open device because (insert reason make no f**king sense) and send the rifle with the bolt catch piece missing in the parts bag.......
I asked for dimensions on here to see if I could get one fabricated, TI contacted me and sent a replacement assy on them no charges and free shipping!

Give them a call Sir. They are class acts and A1 all around from my personal experience.

I dunno about those parts kits I got mine and it had 2 front sight posts......and no firing pin the one part I’d really like an extra of, sent an email last week still no reply hopefully sometime this week they’ll get back to me maybe their busy I dunno but I’m trying to give em a benefit of the doubt. Fingers crossed
 
Id just contact TI for a replacement, receiving a rifle without it is unacceptable. Im sure TI will sort it out. ill measure mine when i get home and post the specs just for future reference. Guessing its metric aswell.
