Chinese vs russian

factory triangle 625

the above set of photos shows me that this is a rebuilt gun (as I believe most of the imported Chinese sks were) some show signs of rebuilding some do not but this one does. The parts with the serial number stamped with a larger case 9 I believe were scrubbed and re numbered. You can see the bottom of the trigger guard for sure has the sanding marks. The numbers on the receiver that are there look like they may have been a former serial number but that i am not sure of but this is the first one I have seen with numbers like that. The Chinese do not stamp much on the guns when they are originally built. Usually some numbers are on the barrel and the assembly numbers are on the left front of the receiver and barrel. Factory 625 and all the rest are not able to be dated as no information has been given as to how they serial number their weapons. Also many of these factory codes are under one roof and are to lead one to believe they have more factories than they actually do. This is not to say Chine doe's not have the capability to build these guns but they are not done in a dedicated Military weapons factory. They use normal production plants to do Military contracts and they ship parts to assembly points all over the country.

Thank you Howie.

Curtton, it would be interesting to hear your opinion on this rifle... Thanks in advance.

I'm not really suggesting that you should soak your Russian SKS in the Volga(yes its a river in Russia). You could try either the search on this thread or varsol........or the Volga if your wanting to broaden your horizons. :p take care.BTW....the smaller end with the hole in it is the one that you want to point down range when its loaded, the larger end with the hole in it goes against your shoulder. :p

I don't think you can actually fit 74 SKS rifles into one pic unless you lay them out on the lawn and photograph them from the roof. (Which I am obviously not suggesting in any way, although the looks on the neighbors faces would be priceless)
