Chinses Ammo Surplus Corrosive or Non Corrosive 7.62x39 9mm

I have old Chinese silver box from the 1990s. It is labeled as non-corrosive. I have NEVER had any problems with my ammo that I collected in the 1990s Silver and yellow BOX. I very cleaned my AK (when I could shoot it) back in the day. I would clean it once every few range trips and I never had any corrosion problems. Maybe I was just lucky. But the 1990's silver Box and Yellow box norinco ammo was fine by me.

If its in a box (20 rounds) packaged in a crate, and it says norinco on each 20 round box, it NON corrosive. anything else thats surplus in crates is corrosive. period.

yes I have. things military in Calgary also sells it as non corrosive, he knows its not

Ill second the above..I brought a can from 'things military' and was careful to buy it from the pile marked NOT CORROSIVE and guess what, it was corrosive. I would like to say that it was an honest mistake but seeing as he had two different stacks of ammo on sale, one marked as corrosive and the other not AND an obvious price difference between the two I would have to say that he is taking the piss.......

There are numerous people on here who have believed their stories of Green Crate Chinese Non Corrosive told by lever every month, and they all have rusty SKS's to show for it!!! Good luck, best to assume they are full of SH!T and clear your guns right after shooting :)

Corrosive? No big deal as im going to clean the rifle well either way.

I prefer the quick and easy corrosive test as mentioned earlier...just check out your fired shells the next day. Corrosive ones will show rust on the inside of the steel cases.

So just getting into the black rifle game, and doing research. Any one else notice the original poster made the claim, backed up by no evidence. The original video doesn't show anything about corrosion, besides a guy saying because of the age it's corrosive. No proof. Then the second video isn't even of Chinese ammo. Have some Norinco 5.56 I did the test of, and am waiting to see what happens. Just really annoys me that he is so convinced of this with no proof shown. Is he trying to get into parliament?

hmmm if the norc 5.56 is actually corrosive then it is definitely not as good of a deal as it seems to be. I also had a few probs with popped primers and split cases and some FTF so I sold all my norc stash and am gonna get some federal and some remington UMC to try. Would like to get some PMC as well!

Norc 5.56 is not corrosive, but it does have many issues with quality... "Norc ammo only goes through Norc gun" should be a motto on this website.

What is a good but cheap ammo that you guys would suggest? Looking for non corrosive, but don't have a ton to spend, and don't want to be throwing out money when I have problems with rounds.

Yup, 6 months without cleaning my sks 2 range trips and 400 rounds of silver box norinco and not a spot of rust.

Ditto. Same experience here. Gotta be at least a couple thousand rounds or norc thru different SKS with rarely any cleaning if any (I'm lazy) and no rust. Wouldn't be too heart broken if it did anyways cuz it's just a crappy SKS. Fun to shoot on the cheap but def my least favorite platform. I'm just kicking myself for not stocking up more norc ammo when I had the chance. Esp that 45 ACP stuff

I run Chinese 5.56 surplus made in 1997 thru my NEA AR-15 it runs flawlessly. I have seen no signs of rust, when I pull the trigger all I hear is BANG. The 7.62 ammo I have is also Chinese but corrosive just spray windex down the barrel and proper maintenance as for reliability 100% over 4K rounds.

Canada ammo is accurate for labelling non corrosive vs corrosive for their 7.62. Lever arms on the other hand is not. I can guarantee that the Chinese surplus they sell is corrosive even tho labelled non corrosive. Might not be the most corrosive stuff but definitely corrosive.
