Hey gang, now you dont see me often here i bet some of you feel I neglect this section, so dont be sad here I come.

Recently acquired my first 1911, yes! only took me 9 years...

Considering magazines, are Chip McCormick magazines any good? specifically their match grade 1911 mag

I've got 5 of them, mostly from Brownells. I've been having a jamming issue (in my Kimber Stainless II 9mm) with a couple of them where the next round in the magazine noses up and jams against the empty casing being extracted. I don't think it's the shape of the feed lips, I think they're spreading apart from the spring tension and the round pushing against the lips.

I just ordered 6 Wilson Combat ETM mags (on sale at Brownells now) a week ago to see if they fix the problem. They're supposed to be a lot sturdier . They should be here this week or early next. I'll post the results from my first range session with them, but if that's this weekend it's going to be a busy range session as I'm picking up my new CZ 75 Shadow this week as well. :)

IMHO the CMC power mags are the ticket I have 6 8-rounders and 3 10-rounders that I use for ipsc and 3-gun they feed everything even swc's, they drop free every time and replacement parts can be found.

yahhhh dlask... thats not going to work for me im 0 for 2 for their products so far, and I told myself never again

might go wilson combat from brownells then

Been using CMC mags for 25 years, all types of shooting and competitions.

If they don't work in your gun, it's the gun, not the mags. CMC mags are the only exception to the rule when you gun jams.

To the guy with I would suggest checking your extractor claw or tension.

Chip McCormack Power + magazines (new follower design) are great. I ordered all of mine (24 total) in the three packs from Brownells, typically less than $ 100.00 (hopefully eliminates customs fees). I shoot a lot of IPSC shoots and use all of my mags, rarely a failure due to a mag. Brownells also carries the Chip McCormack magazine end caps (two sizes available) if you need a little longer cap.

For me it is Tripp Cobra Mag, model 10R-9MM-RG (10 round, 9mm, stainless). Also had the same brand for my 1922 .45 ACP, different model number obviously.

Love 'em!

Got 'em from Northern Republic Mag here in Canada.

The CMC works well in my 38 Super, and Cobra work well in my 45.

I'm sure it would be fine reversed as well.

Sorry to revive an older thread but I just wanted to do a followup to my previous comment d:h:

I just got back from the range and my first use of my new Wilson Combat ETM mags. The mags work GREAT, however I still had 1 failure to extract. Nothing to do with the mag, the casing was just sitting in the chamber. So it probably is the extractor and not the Chip McCormick mags that is causing the problem. After I retension the extractor, I will test again with the Chip McCormick mags and get back to you.
