I was thinking of getting a few CMC mags. Midway USA has a few to select from. Any recommendations? Blue finish, 8rd and maybe a couple 10rd.

ww.midwayusa.com and paste in ' Chip McCormick ' for a search.

And how do those prices seem?

chip mags good!

I have been using shooting star 10 rd for my 45 going on 4 years now. I actually bought 5 for a Norenco that I started IPSC with then moved them over to the Colt that I use now. I replaced springs at the end of the third season. Also have to reform the top lips every once in a while so they will fall freely for mag changes.
Between 6 mags I go through 12,000 round a year so each mag has seen approx. 8000 rounds.
In my humble opinion they are a bargain.

I got 2 of them (10 rounds) by driving to US. Great value.

I told Canadian Customer when I came back. They asked how many rounds. I told they are 10. No problem at all.

I'm thinking of getting some. Are the base pads removeable? Is it worth getting match grade for the extra money? As you can tell I'm new to the 1911 scene. Thanks.

Get the 'power mags' from CMC - they make your 1911 run flawlessly. Well, they make MINE run flawlessly.. :)

Get 8 rounders unless you compete... I find the 10 rounders look ugly. The base plates are removeable.
