I have both an Ed Brown and a Kimber SS ambi-safety for my lefty wife's Ruger SR1911.

I have the blued Ed Brown ambi in one of my 1911's and I'm quite happy with it. Those of you with the Kimber safety - are you happy with it?

Thanks, yohann!

I was wondering about how well the Kimber went together - and stayed tight. As for the cut necessary for the Ed Brown type, I'm getting pretty good at doing it. Takes patience and a steady hand with an Xacto chisel.

I was pleasantly surprised when I installed the ambi safety on my Kimber. It was drop-in. The two other ambi safeties I mounted on other guns needed fitting. YMMV of course.

It feels tighter than the factory ambi on my Rail Gun for sure. It must have a lot to do with the way it is secured in the frame with the pin. Others that use the tab under the grip to hold them in place are at the mercy of the size of the cut in the grip.

One such ambi cut done by a friend was too deep. Solution - I glued in a thin poly piece to fit. The lubricity of the poly helps s well.

It's better to cut too little and fit cautiously. Wood or metal, it's better than trying to replace it!

The Ed Brown ambi I have on hand will require some fitting. Haven't yet tried to install the Kimber.

Just installed the Kimber ambi in my wife's SR1911. Perfect drop in fit! Function is fine and there is no looseness. The included pin really holds the right side snug to the frame.

She has another SR1911 coming soon. I've been instructed to order another Kimber ambi ..... ;>)
