Choices Choices. Need oppinions

All are overkill for a 700 yard plinking gun. Sell some stuff and fund a build that you can shoot more often and reload for half the cost! If you already have a 7RM, 300WBY and 300WM, then why build another boomer?! Build a SA caliber and get a ton more trigger time :)

I'm of the same opinion as this. SA cartridges are effective at some pretty incredible ranges. I've personally taken the 6.5 creedmoor out to a mile and beyond a few occasions, and have been able to get 1st or second round hits. I know people that have taken 6mm's beyond a mile successfully (in one case up to 2400 yards).

A SA cartridge is much more suited for 700 yards and in then a magnum. Ammo is less, recoil is less, and you learn more about what the wind is doing with a smaller cartridge. Personally I think it would make 700 yards and in shooting more enjoyable. I'm pretty smitten with the 6BR family of cartridges with how dang good they shoot - incredibly precise and easy to load for. Lots of fun.

If you want a bit more jam, then there's always the 6.5 PRC. Not really necessary, unless the gun is going to do double duty as a hunting gun. You mention deer, which don't require much horsepower to take down, so a 6mm would be more than acceptable as long as the regs allow.

If you are set on a magnum, the .300 PRC seems like a solid choice. Really good ballistics without having to step up to a .338LM bolt face. Of course, if you want even more zip (and have the $ to spend) you can step up to a .300NM. Great cartridge, very easy to load for, seems to be very precise and has excellent ballistics. Hard on barrels and you have to get an action with .338LM bolt face - more money and less options.

300 Win, 215 Berger, FedGM215M and H1000. This combo just works. Be sure to spec the correct reamer to get the most out of the 215 Berger. At 3000 fps it’s a deadly combo.

Guess I should of expanded on the plinking thing. I have a .223 set up that I shoot up to 500 yards for when I want to burn
a pile of powder . This rifle was not intended to be fired to that degree at all. Some long range stuff and a little hunting.

My goal is to treat this build like a very fine bottle of single malt. Savoured slowly in order to appreciate all of it's fine features. Not guzzled like a bottle of cheap rye after having a crappy day lol....

Anything listed will do for what you want. Just pick the right smith or you might think your getting a fine scotch or single malt and end up getting Pilsner...

The 7mm Rem Mag will get you to 1000 yards easy.....you won't break the bank.

Rethink the heavy barrel IF your planning to carry a long distance.

Brass is available everywhere.

Cheapest by far of all the Magnums available.

Zero idea what this means. If your 223 is meant to “burn a pile of powder” what’s this rifle for? A 300WM chews through 70+ grains every shot.

I’d consider the 300PRC before any of those choices. For 700 yards they are all poor choices.

You can drink it slowly for a few hrs or guzzle it fast, at the end of the day , it’s all the same. After a full bottle you won’t give a Fuc .. lol
Choose the one that gives you less powder and longer barrel life, with easy to find components:)

And look at furtaker to do the hard stuff.
