Choke Choices Made Simple

This is great information. I shot my first round of trap this week with 20 inch barrel with modified. Hit maybe 20%.
Next round I’ll use the cylinder bore. Maybe modified was too tight for my first go at this but thought with the short barrel may be beneficial. Perhaps not.
Was fun regardless
Was this on a regulation trap layout, (16 yards from the house and 5 stations) or a farm field set up standing near one trap?
If it was ATA, stick with a mod or full choke

Your last acquisition was a Win model 23! Just the facts mam(man)!!
Well almost in my hands… In Canada now, fees paid to the importer Prophet River, and just received notice yesterday that it was picked up by Canada Post and should be on my doorstep MAY 4TH !!!!!! I will be parked outside by my mailbox waiting for the mail truck depending on my tracking notifications which i check every half hour. Can’t decide whether I should start with the 20g or 28g barrels first on this little high grade Winchester Model 23. I am very excited…fixed chokes, no ports ever. lol

Did I mention Im very EXCITED ?? !!!!! lol

It was at the club I joined, so yes appears semi regulation with 5 station shooting deck -not a fan shaped field

Chokes are overrated, I use full choked old guns from the days before removable were developed, and shoot better than most shooters at my club, even the one ones with 16K Kreigoffs. Put centre of pattern where the target is going to be and it will break.

Go true cylinder bore and halve that barrel to 10" and you'll be running 100 straights in no time.

But what about the ones with 20K, 30K or even 50K or more Krieghoffs? You know there is a saying "the more money you throw at a problem the quicker it goes away"...

Trulock non-ported in a Citori 725 Trap (0.740” bore):

0.015” - Light Mod (Skeet 2 SK2) for 16 yard use
0.025” - Improved Modified IM for 20 yard use

Also used for the odd Doubles.

Also a Full F that's only used for games like Annie Oakley.
