Choke question

From the Carlson choke tube site. Believe you can also add the older SKB tubes to this list as well:

Browning Invector (Flush choke is 1.5" long w/threads at bottom): Interchanges with Carlson's Winchester, Browning Invector & Mossberg 500 style threads

Invector is the choke system used (named) by browning. They sit flush with the barrel when screwed in. They usually indicate the choke constriction with small cut outs when you examine the end on the barrel eg) l=full II=mod. You need a small tool to screw all the way in.

For chokes you just have to be sure the thread pattern is the same ie) win choke is used by Winchester but I believe it will also fit mossberg... ( may be wrong ?) win chokes have a knurled end and do not sit flush with the barrel they extend out of it. No tool required to screw in. Mossbergs choke system is the "accu choke" and they have an "accu mag choke" for the over bored barrels on the 830's and 935 shotgun models.

I believe Beretta also has and invector choke system (flush fit) similar to Brownings but the tread pattern would be different

Wow ganderite had a question?.....he usually only has answers ( this is not sarcasm just respect)

Invector does not mean flush fit. Invector choke tubes come in both flush fit, and in extended, I used extended choke tubes in my shotguns that used the invector system.

Please define the invector choke system for me ? what is the difference between it and a win choke system?
I do believe it's the name invector only! And I do believe Browning was the fist to use it? However I have been wrong from time to time so

The only real difference appears to be the name. But the invector name is not exclusive to flush fit chokes.

I just bought a shotgun (from Turkey) that uses invector chokes.

I am looking on ebay for a rifled choke. Some ads say "invector" and some say "winchoke". That is why I am asking. Don't want to waste $40 on a choke that won't fit.

Agreed.... I think the name invector, win , rem, accu are just a way to make the firearm mfg'er choke system identifiable. But I see it for identification reasons only, as I believe Calsons, kicks, titewad ect.. all make choke tubes with thread patterns to be used in these systems and some are extended and some not.

I'd call or e-mail kicks or Carlson they will tell you what fits for sure but my guess is that as long as the pkg reads will fit browning invector choke... it will screw in just fine. My thinking is that invector identifies the thread pattern on the tube so it Screw in correctly.

Try this ganderite Carlson site has an interchangeability guide

Invector is Brownings proprietary name and the chokes come in flush mounted and extended likewise for Invector Plus which were the next generation.Invector and Invector plus are not interchangeable.

Winchoke were Winchester proprietary chokes and same in flush and extended with same thread pattern as the standard Invector.

As I've noted already Mossberg and SKB chokes used the same thread pattern as the Browning Invector

That's exactly the info I needed. Thanks everyone.

CGN rocks!

If you bought an asena zr7 from Corwin mossberg accu chokes do NOT fit. They are the same thread design but have more threads than the invector tubes. I just found this out myself. Spent an hour at my gun Smith trying chokes. Browning invector chokes work. Win choke works. Mossberg accu chokes do not. Browning invector and win chokes have a pronounced flat ring before the threads start. This differs from accu choke. They are listed as interchangeable and are if the gun is threaded correctly. My accu chokes fit in my buddies browning but not my turkish semi auto. Martin says my gun is invector chokes as does my gun Smith. 10 accu choke tubes do not fit including custom tubes

I was given two 12g Browning Invector tubes, flush fit. One says Lead -imp cylinder/steel Modified, the other says lead-modified/steel-full. I have never used them as I only have Remington shotguns. Look like they will fit and may try them later.
