Picked up cheap a Model 12 Heavy Duck that is in excellent mechanical but poor cosmetic condition. Planning on making it into a useful waterfowl gun and have the forcing cone lengthened & chokes installed. This model has a thicker barrel walls then most M12's. Barrel OD is .880, wall is .085 thick. What are my options for tubes? Ideally id like to use beretta mobils as i have a full set on hand or browning invectors.

Indeed i guess the second part of my query is who should i get to do it? Not many gunsmiths around here and most of them are more rifle oriented

need to know the cylinder bore dia of the barrel. and see how concentric the bore is to the OD of the barrel. 880 is pretty thick, shouldn't be a problem there. the Cyl ID is where the problems will come in.

Id is .690 but i have no way to measure concentricity

The choke may be .690 but it's the bore than needs to be the right size... you need to find a smith who can thread for the tubes you want to use and let him inspect the barrel and measure and state if he can do it or not.

There are no doubt many smith's that can do the job. But if you have to send it out to get it done? I'd highly recommend tac ordnance, they do great work and are a pleasure to deal with.

There aren't that many anymore. David Henry near Red Deer use to and stopped about 3 years ago.

Tac Ord only does Remchoke, Winchoke and Truchoke.
