Choke Tubes

Over time ... probably, but I shot a couple hundred rounds over both
Browning & Beretta threads with no ill effect !

It's a better policy to get yourself a "Cylinder" choke and keep it in place.
 
The pellets aren't going to touch the threads. The back end of the wad seal may touch the threads. There may be pressure issues as the barrel is thinner there. All in all, for a few bucks you can ease your mind and prevent possible damage. IC is the do-all choke.

I wouldn't do it myself but I would have a hard time believing that soft lead could damage barrel steel.
