Hi guys,
Although I carry a Remington MM here on the ranch, I don't know too much about other types of shotguns.
A friend who is about to get his PAL asked some questions about chokes and slugs, so I thought I'd just cut-and-paste his questions here ... and ask you guys for some help. Thanks very much. - Ron
Does use of a slug in a shotgun require the straight bore (not "modified" choke)? (I've forgotten the term for a shotgun barrel that has no choke at all.) In other words, can a reasonable choke for duck hunting (I think that is called "modified", but I'm not sure.), say, also serve for slugs? And, also, then, in the same vein, can the same shotgun serve with birdshot, buckshot, and slugs? (I'm thinking relatively inexpensive shotgun. In fact, single shot. And I think, for maintenance, and no great need for slug accuracy, smooth bore would be preferred over rifling.)
