Got a folding stock for my Sinsinati 14" 12GA shotgun, but I think it's going to be REALLY close to 26" OAL with the stock folded. Gun only came with the one choke. Anyone know what type of chokes these take? I'd like to get a slightly extended brake or breacher style choke to increase the OAL by maybe an inch. I'm not really a shotgun guy, so I honestly don't know much about these. If a photo of the gun and the current choke would help I can post a couple tomorrow. Thanks in advance!

From what i have seen the 12ga turkish guns tend to be invector style like Butcherbill mentioned, any 20ga so far has been mobilchoke.

Browning regular invector, I just went through the same thing with my 18" and a Browning Gold Flush mount fit the bill.

I would imagine an extended could be found from the major Ie Brileys Carlson etc

You should bug Martin for one of the cylinder bore breacher chokes for that thing.

Do chokes count towards OAL? When I inquired with the firearms lab a muzzle device did not count towards barrel length or overall length, even if it was welded or pinned. I’d assume it’s the same for chokes.

My understanding is that barrel devices (chokes, flash hiders, brakes, whatever) don't count with regard to barrel length, but DO count toward overall length when keeping an already non-restricted gun NR. Anyone have a definitive answer? If I'm wrong, the folding stock will go on a different gun. Anyone in the know please correct me before I waste $ on an extended choke!!

Needs to be a permanent extension. You could use red threadlocker... that would be very permanent and cops would never be able to remove it if they are checking, just spitballing.

That's exactly what they told my friend. He was building a 10/22 w/folding stock and didn't realize until after the fact that his aftermarket barrel was a touch too short, email from the lab tech said a flash hider wouldn't count.

However, the Troy PAR with folding stock was only meets OAL requirements if you include the pinned on flash hider (they were originally classified R which was appealed)

The OP is asking about a choke though, I wonder if it's the same or not?

That’s always been my understanding as well, if a buttstock pad counts for OAL then so would an extended choke. OAL length is just that, the overall length is what counts.

There is certainly no hard rule on it, but it seems that it'll never count towards barrel length, and whether it counts towards OAL is a big question mark as the lab tech told us no, even if it was welded on it wouldn't count, but the lab accepted the pinned on flash hider for the PAR to make it NR w/ the folding stock... So at minimum, permanently attaching it *should* count, but anything short of that is a big who da fk knows...

Haha, it would be nice if our overlords would make up their minds eh. Ask the same question get three different answers depending on who you speak with.

I can take the stock off of almost every pump action and still fire it, so is that illegal too?

Just because you can, that doesn't mean it's safe to.
I bet they'd throw a careless use of a firearm charge at someone if they caught them firing one without a stock.
