92G Elite II. WIthout a question - best quality. Accurate out of the box and a lot of fun. 9MM economical is just a bonus.

It is my first time don't know how to reply, I have a 686 and I will recommend to everyone but I also love Beretta so much. In this case forget the 87T, save up some Starbuck money and buy both.

How did you come about those three choices?

Anyways, looking at your choices, I would go with the 686. I have one and it is excellent!

Of those handguns listed, I would have to say that the 686 is going to be closest to a "do it all"...

Most accurate of the three, without any doubt... Hello: that's 5 or more inches of barrel that is solidly attached to the frame - no doubt about lockup here!

And, you can load from as light as you want in .38SPL (Heck, in the 80's, couldn't you even get plastic projectiles for indoor use, that were pushed by the energy from primers alone?), up to what I believe (and I may be wrong here - it has been awhile since I studied the data) is still the statistical best "one shot stopper" 125 gr .357 MAG load.

.22 would be great if you were just, and only just ever, plinking, and Berettas are just so.... Beretta-like!

Purely MHO... YMMV.

Odd selection of options - may I ask why those particular three?

Cheers,

Neal

The 87T for a first gun. 22 is the way to go when learning
The 92 if you do not reload and
Hands down if you reload the 686 will be the love of your life.

Is this your first handgun? If so, I think you should get a 22lr... I know, I know, it might not be as much fun to shoot as a 45acp... but you can shoot to your heart's content for very little $$. Also, most 22lr pistol will be more accurate at 25m the any center fire gun. Every trip to the range should always start with some 22lr shooting. (I think of it as a warm up/stretching session for my trigger finger muscle)

If you already have a good 22, then get yourself a nice 9mm... If you like the Beretta, then that's what it should be. Hey, it's your money. Buy what you like, not what other people like ;)

Safe shooping,
Mike.

Get the Elite....you'll never get bored with it. OTOH, unless you're a real revolver fan, you'll probably take the M686 to the range a couple of times and it'll become a safe queen. You either get a rush out of shooting wheelguns or you don't...there is NO in-between. ;)
If you've got small to medium hands, try the Elite 1A with the Vertec frame...it's a whole 'nuther gun.

None of the above. I don't have many good things to say about beretta pistols. Beretta makes great shotguns but their pistols aren't amongst the best selections that you can make. If you want a .22 get a browning Buckmark or Ruger 22/45. If you want a center fire pistol get a: Glock, H&K USP, Sig or even a CZ-75. I used to really like Beretta's until I owned a few. Now I know better.

There's nothing wrong with the Beretta, sure there may be better choices but at that point you're really splitting hairs and it's just a matter of personal preference.

The .22lr is cheap but as said gets old fast.
The S&W isn't bad but kind of limits your fun in my opinion.
The Beretta would be my choice for general target shooting, economy, and the option of doing something fun like IDPA/IPSC in the future.

I'm not a hardcore revolver fan, but every gun owner should have at least one, and the 686 is the only revolver you would ever need. So I pick C.

Here's my two cents, I picked the 686 of the three you listed. I own 2/3 on your list. The Beretta 87T is a nice pistol but I think you can do better for the money. For a few dollars more than the 87T, you are enterring the price range of some very nice centrefire handguns. I learned the hard way by buying a 87T and liking it but my Ruger MkII will give it a run for the money in the accuracy and reliability department. I have no experience with the Elite because I chose to go with Sig and IMI (Baby Eagle) for my 9mm pistols but I believe there is a .22lr kit that is available for the Elite so I would see this as a bonus. Of all my handguns, the 686 is the handgun I've owned the longest. I like it so much that I'm shopping for a 586. Hence, my vote for the 686. Now, had you put a .45 ACP pistol on your list............;)

Seriously, buy the handgun that you like the best. If you like what you own, you will shoot it more often.
