so because i'm not some crusty old fart my opinions are not valid

It isn't so much that your opinion is not valid, but you do need some form of validity behind your opinion. So, how many deer HAVE you shot yourself?

Signed: crusty ol' fart.

ok i'll answer your question, not i have not shot a deer

now here's a question for you, how come you keep attacking me, is it because you feel you skills as a hunter are inadequate and i'm the safest person to attack in order to make yourself feel better or is it just as simple as you being an #######

No, I ask because I know how old you are and how lacking your experience is, yet you give out opinions like you have been out there for many years.

We have a youth section, are you a member?

BTW, not being an a$$hole, yet...........

The .223 is an awesome VARMINT or gopher cartridge OK, that's it...no more. So any buffoons asking stupid questions as to it's validity as an elk round, or a bear round, or even a deer round, needs drug rehab. ####!

Off the top of my head, I've taken over 30+ deer mostly with Remington's. Several from a .30-06 7600 carbine, dozen or so with a .280 Mountain rifle, but my "hot rifle" these days is an ugly 700 SS DM 7m/m Rem mag thats accounted for my last dozen deer. So I guess any calibre from .270-7m/m mag in a Rem 700,Winny 70,Ruger 77 scoped with quality variable scope would do. Most important is shot placement of course.

Hmmmm...

Only one? I could not do it. Here are my top 3

7mm08
260
6.5x55

Now as for the rifle, It would have to be a walnut/stainless Winchester model 70. This rifle would also need to be dressed up with some leopold glass.

I hear a 80's style 4x4 1/2 ton with a brush guard does wonders on deer.

Who else agrees with my combo?

I have a matte blued 700 LA with a 22" SS King (257 Roberts) bbl in a mountain rifle contour. It is in a Rem TI stock modified for BDL. Right now it has a VXII 2x7 matte in Talley LWs, but that scope will likely be swapped out for a VXIII 2.5x8 Matte w/B&C reticle. It shoots 3/4" groups with 100gr Hornadys at over 3100fps. I'm gonna try some Accubonds in it this year as well as some Hornady 120gr HPs.

I like this rifle alot....... It has accounted for two WT deer thus far.
